Hey Socalsteve, since you seem to be in communication with someone who might know, when is Electronica wrapping up?
I'm going to be back in the area late May/early June but I'd like to know if it will be before then so I can try and plan a trip out.

Songs that should be on any 80s arcade playlist
This gets me thinking about my songs that I'd add (restricting to 80s tunes, not necessarily in that 1980-1982 era):
* Video Fever - The Beepers (from WarGames)
* I Love You (Miss Robot) - The Buggles
* Joystick - Dazz Band
* She Blinded Me with Science - Thomas Dolby
* Head Games - Foreigner
* Games without Frontiers - Peter Gabriel
* Computer World - Kraftwerk
* Home Computer - Kraftwerk
* It's More Fun to Compute - Kraftwerk
* Computer Games - Mi-Sex
* Together in Electric Dreams - Giorgio Moroder & Philip Oakey
* Are "Friends" Electric - Gary Numan / Tubeway Army
* Computer Blue - Prince & the Revolution
* Something in the Water (Does Not Compute) - Prince & the Revolution
* Computer Game (either one) - Yellow Magic Orchestra

With the fees, since they are being used as a background in a place of buisness rather than a movie/tv soundtrack the fees should be considerably less. Still not free though.

Steve, is this off of the jukebox in there, or is there some iPod playlist that someone who runs the place uses? Because there are some WEIRD things about this playlist.
1) Someone really likes The Go-Gos
2) Seems to cluster around songs in 1981
3) The Cure - Primary? David Lindley? Red Rider? Non-True Spandau Ballet? Really?
Very unusual indeed. Cool to see it all in one place. And yes, I was also surprised that neither Separate Ways nor Sweet Dreams was on there. If I didn't know any better, it's almost like they blew the whole public performance rights budget on Ebony & Ivory and Billie Jean and had to stuff a bunch of easier to clear stuff from 1981 to fill out the list (I'm looking at you Joe Walsh, King Crimson, & Dave Edmunds).

Even if it's not official, you might want to consider adding Separate Ways and Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) to the end of the list... after all, those are pretty much canon additions to the soundtrack.

By the government's standards it can be considered conspiracy. Since the RIAA is active when it comes to such things it is always good to avoid public discussion.

Maybe posting links to good quality versions of the songs (in the order provided) on YouTube instead? Couple that with a "free YouTube to MP3 converter"...
(Later today I'll post a list of the YouTube links I have thus far, since I have many of these tracks already.) |
Yeah you should probably not mention that last part about converters, still a felony.

Thanks Man.
Now my questions are:
1: Who has a decent CD burner
2: And a sweet CD labeler
3: Whats your PayPal account info
4: When are you mailing out the Arcade Soundtracks?
Actually if someone is compiling these, let us know. I can check, but i think i have all the police, men at work, stevie nicks, and steve miller band songs on their original CDs. i can transfer to computer and email them over. |
Don't forget 5: What size prison uniform do you wear? |
A Medium.
We probably shouldnt sell any ripped cds but we could come up with some sweet art work for people who want to get the music together and bust out on their own cd.
