well now that this is "solved" ...

where I was at was Coney Island .. thought for certain "The Crows Nest" was The Parachute Jump on the Coney Island boardwalk

had a feeling the chest was "buried" either under the boardwalk or on one of the abandoned boats in Coney Island Creek , one of the "ghost ships" ... apparently it was not.

I look forward to the explanation of the clues. I look forward to majority of us looking at the solve presented by the puppeteers and saying things to the effect of "well what about..." and "really thats it" ..and "so that homage wasnt a clue at all", "a skull & crossbones nailed to a tree? you cant be serious" ... etc.

I thought for certain there would be a final "payoff" episode (post The Seance) ... that would have aired which would show the pirates making the solve , apparently I was wrong. I would have thought THAT would have been their payoff, where we could have all had that OHHHHH moment and the entire "story" would have unfolded and come together, that's how I would have booked it at least.

The immediate question that I have is ... if this treasure was legit buried in the ground in Floyd Bennett Field as the puppeteers have stated (where they dug it up with The NY Times present) ... how would they 'know' if someone had dug it prior?

Just a reminder.

The $10,000 is now worth $9,430 due to inflation.

I wouldn't necessarily be looking for a treasure chest. As I mentioned before, other contests like to control the final stages of their hunt. This allows them to properly set up the finish to maximize the publicity. One way to do this is by telephone. With this in mind I would be looking for a telephone number, perhaps a sign advertising "General Anesthetic..." or just graffiti "For a good time call Mulligan...". Laughing They can then filter out bona fide treasure hunters from others by asking specific questions, remember the Pirate lottery hotline numbers 20, 17, 16, 14, 21, 12, 8 for instance.

If You Find It

If you find it please post an analyst of the details on the path and how you came to the spot. If you don't post it here then post it on FB. Since I am working all by myself, I want to see if I at least came close to solving this thing. It is hard as hell.
Like I said I found the path but, there are so many birdies involved that while I'm sure I found the one, I have doubts. I also can't figure out the one damn thing that we need to figure out exact spot of where the chest is. I know what to look for I just can't figure it out. I haven't looked at for the past few days.

99% certain it is in this area , its an above and beyond logical place however when getting into the specifics of where specifically, is where it begins to get tricky as several places that came to mind that would have potentially been fitting with clues & storyline & payoff were to no avail .. unless my crew and I are blind and missed it ..which is possible.

So what happened? Did anything pan out for you?

 We Lost Our Gold Team
2+ years, gold still LOST

I've come back to the forum after a long time and a couple of unsuccessful digs just to see if people were still active and actually playing.

So- what I'm thinking is that we form a team and put this this to rest already!! I'm en entrepreneur with an office near Astor Place/NYU that is open 24/7 and has plenty of conference room/study space, etc. We can even watch videos together using a projector. We could meet at night or on weekends.

It's been TWO YEARS and you haven't already solved it by yourself. Isn't $500 or $1,000 better than $0 (minus shovel, etc)?

Didn't the creators do this to obtain press and to promote their work? The fact that we have to form a team to get the job done shows just how creative and brilliant these guys are.

Let me know if you're interested!

I referenced receiving a package from the PO Box a few posts ago and someone called BS on it . It was more of a gag 'ha ha' type thing as opposed to a clue received .. it was something that got the reaction of "ha .. these guys, ha ha" . If it's really that important to the poster whom said "BS" I'll happily tell you, just ask.

Hey there im not 100% sure if anyone noticed, or if this will help at all.

But when doing a whois on the domain i found this

As you can see it was last updated 1st of february this year... Maybe the creators are still watching over this? Dropping really secret hints?

Might be a simple hunch.

Anyways, i wish best of luck to anyone who is trying find the treasure.

I'd totally also enjoy seeing a picture of the chest if anyone here at unforums finds it. Pretty sure we all would.

Guest ,I believe someone on this really long thread has dug into if there is a paper trail, such as permits. Check this thread.

Oops, that was me who asked about the Paper Trail, but forgot to log in. Anyhow, I tried searching for the name you referenced and also for the words "paper trail" but couldn't get any hits. Do you have a page #?

Can't remember. Sorry to say check this really long thread. Keep in mind though that it may be on private city property, if that makes any sense. Such as an organization or church, park area, etc.
