Good luck you guys! I won't be in the city until later this week.

Maybe the pirates hid their gold at the Apple Store - which is right across the street from there...or at the Plaza Hotel.

Whatever it is -hope you have a lot of fun.

k. I'll be in the city early. If anyone wants to meet up you can perhaps follow me on twitter (sifaka1026) and send me a DM or send me a message here. There might not be anything more there but can't hurt to check. The Balto statue is right near the zoo

liddy armies

I am not convinced of the Columbus Circle statue theory. Grand Army Plaza is in Brooklyn. The statue on the edge of central park is the USS Maine Memorial monument.

Anyone capture the ship name in the Trailer....it goes by real quick. Captain in foreground with Mulligan holding green flag with 5 gold diamonds..appears to be "Ma??ie Ha??"

I paused the first Episode. It is the "Maddie Hayes" who is a character from an old show, Moonlightning. She was played by Cybill Shepard.

They managed to wrangle up $10000, maybe they managed to get people to stand at the locations mentioned for a few hours. Or maybe if the locations spell something when connected. Hey, do the locations surround any point? I gotta check...

Anyways, I guess we won't be able to tell for sure until a few more clues are given.

waterfall

The solution at the end seems to be accurate. I have been searching the net for that waterfall. The Captain's favorite spot. It's not in manhattan obviously. Must be in an outer borough. I can't find a pic of it anywhere on google.

Anyone recognize it?

The path walked doesn't make a shoe shape or in any other way seem to correspond to the ultimate code map that Mulligan drew, so I'm not sure if that is just a red herring or what.

One of the weaknesses in the game so far is that it seems that you don't really need to follow the entire treasure trail, since only the last stop matters. Maybe the puzzles will become harder and provide self-referential clues later on that will change this.

Okay! Of all my crazy theories this one is pretty bad, but maybe you have to look for a Footprint(s) to show you're on the right trail!

That was part of the press release, yes.

EDIT: And I supposed that we will find the purpose of the clues when we go to find them. I hopes.

Hey all!
I am close to NYC as well, so I'd love to be a help!
And if there are people getting together to follow these clues, I'd love to help.
As for the list of place to visit, I am really failing to see the point of them. maybe it would be more clear if I went there, but I am skeptical!

I read somewhere that it would be pretty much impossible for someone to find it without seeing at the videos. Or that they'd be surprised. I think it was in the NY Times?

I don't live anywhere even remotely close to America, let alone NY, but I am totally loving muppet pirates. So I'm going to watch, lol. And play if I can.

If I give someone that elusive 'aha!' moment, and you find the treasure, will you mail me one coin? I'd be happy just to have that and frame it, put it on the wall in my lounge, and then when people ask me why I have a framed US dollar on the wall I can say "oh, I helped some people find some treasure that some muppets buried in New York".

*giggle*

I second that (except for the America part, I just have the luck to live 3000 miles away anyway). Glad to work on this one. Hope someone here solves it, and that I can help with the next one at least.
