timer
if the timer starts with any movement of the layers, i am going to be be super pissed. everytime you activet the timer it stays on for at least 1 hour. thats time it is counting that you are working on the puzzle even if you are not. i dont know about you guys but i was planning on trying to get one of the fastest times. when i received my puzzle the bottom 2 layers were already rotated from each other which means UPS/Royal Mail started my puzzle for me! Eeerggg.

timer
I'm pretty sure it does, although like i said, most lights have stopped working. The timer is probably still working. I know that they have had a lot of issues with the electronics but as long as the green lights inside work when its open everything is fine

so are you saying that movement, however slight, of any layer, activates the timer?

light
The light should activate right away as soon as you turn a layer. It can be either so dim you have to go to a pitch black room to see it or it doesn't work, as with most. Dont worry if your light doesn't work, its the green lights inside that are important
