So I was there last year when it was in my hometown (Boston) and I could just drop in. I had a great time.
This year I'm flying across the country for it. Still have to book the hotel + flight though. I figure I'll do that today. |
[EDIT] Never mind my previous remark regarding booking deadline, the deadline has been moved up to right up until the start of ARGFest! For more info on the (now even lower!) ARGFest room rate, go see the booking page!

*If* we make it, konashark got himself a GPS device while I was gone. So count us in on the event if it occurs before we catch a flight home (Sunday afternoon?????).
I can bring an item from Iraq for the box - how's that for a unique momento.

Cool! I'm actually torn about whether I want to pre-solve any of those mystery caches to have the locations ready in hand to find, or save the puzzle solving for a group effort @ argfest
The other choice could be to actually lay out a route to take and hit up a few pre-planned caches, including puzzles and traditional. That could be good for a nice group thing, though I don't know Portland too well, which would be very helpful for planning stealthy urban caching. |
I vote you have one or two that you are prepared with, and then we tackle exactly one from scratch.
Oh, and I'm totally in on this.

Yeah, unfortunately. It just does not add up in terms of days off and tickets to get up there plus my significant other is having a hard time coming up with the days to do both as well so... yeah.
I'll be there in spirit so please make sure you drink a tasty beverage for me! If there is a live broadcast too I'll try to tune in and/or call you guys on the "air".
I was looking forward to what Jordan has to say too. Hopefully someone will YouTube it again like in previous years.
Oh, and for the caching events! Make sure you guys bring something from your home areas to put in the box! Gotta love finding those goodies!

Yeah, I was looking at that too... the first is actually archived, but there's one active located at a commemorative plaque for the original cache, and there's another which is basically a replacement cache for that original; I don't have the IDs handy right now though.

| P.S. You can count me in for whatever geocaching trips/events occur. I actually have never done any caches downtown. |

On another note... I have another idea for something to do for those who are interested - especially people with iphones
I've added a page to the wiki about geocaching. |

I've added a page to the wiki about geocaching. I picked it up soon after upgrading to the iphone, and haven't stopped since =) Great fun! Anyway, more info on the wiki there. I plan on doing some, spending some time doing some, or just keeping an eye open for some during planned events, etc. When there's free time, if anyone else wants to join in the hunt, it's a very ARGer/puzzler oriented activity , and can be very tourist friendly too.
Portland especially has tons of puzzle-based caches to solve and find. If anyone's interested, lemme know. (or just do it yourself while visiting, but it can be fun in groups too)
Just an idea of something puzzly to do during non-scheduled free times. And there's going to be a lot of that for those of us going to ComicCon after ARGfest

Due to a lack of funds and an inclination to use my days off to go to Greece to see my mom later this year I will not be making it this year either.
I'll miss you guys...
Hey, someone needs to keep an eye on this place while you're partying, right?

I am moderately upset.
No... I am EXTREMELY upset!
MY trip to ARGFest this year was in doubt since I had an unexpected career change.
Recent events have sealed it: I have to go out of the country from the 16th to the 25th of July, apparently.
WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Not only do I probably have to eat the $400 in plane tickets I already have, but I was really, really, really looking forward to going this year.
Nothing seems to be going my way this year, apparently.
Have fun in my absense. I will be there in spirit, at least.
