Roll Call Threads/Posts
I'm not the best speaker, obviously... A lot of time when i post, i seem a lot more upset than I am. My need to fully explain something doesn't help. That being said, yes, I am honestly that annoyed this time.
Roll call threads - Do we really need them? The padded, pointless, fluffy "I'm in" or "If this is a game, I will come out of lurking" posts that do nothing but annouce "hey, if you like me, and want to play with me, I am over here". They waste space, time, and frankly sometimes make something look busier than it is. EXAMPLE of the moment? Hacksaw. 6 pages, maybe one full page discussing a viral, non-interactive video. That is fine and dandy, this is not a comentary on if it is going to be a game or not. My issue is that the other 5 pages are roll call posts.
A Lot of time, it is new players, who just left their first game and are looking to join another. Many times it ends up on something that is not a game at all, or on rare occasion a game that already ended. But again, the commentary is on the action itself, not so much on where the action is taking place.
I can see MAYBE in a game like perplex, having one thread {and only one} between seasons asking who will be back... but even that is pushing it. I can see MAYBE asking if someone will be at a live event. That makes sense to me. But generally "I'm watching this thread to see if anything will happen" just seems fluffy to me.
I know I am not the only one {and I hope those of you who agree will say something so I don't just look like the annoying party pooper I constantly come off as!!!}
My request here is either a clerification or a general rule about Roll Call Posts/Threads. Discuss, please.
