I've taken a screen cap of the first JP film at the point where 'Life... err...find's a way' is said. As you can see the time for this DVD is at a different time to that on the card, unless 1 was supposed to mean the 1st film of the trilogy, at 0.29.56

What a great film!

I'm so glad that we can cross this puzzle off the list. I can't believe that I didn't think of Jurassic Park even after all the talk about Jurassic Way. Thank goodness for Cassandra. She's never steered us wrong.

*slaps forehead

That is bad. I mean bad. Good, and immensely devious, but very, very bad.

*will never be able to watch that film again

*doesn't think that will be such a bad loss

Well, I'll be damned. I thought it was Jeff Goldblum in the first Jurassic Park movie, which might be said to be a modern adaptation of the Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Lost World' novel of 1912. But yes, that's it - Jurassic Park, "Life will find a way."

I downloaded a DVD-rip of "Jurassic Park - The Lost World", so the timing might not be perfect. But, at 1:56:29 (not 1:59:26, which seems to have gotten confused along the way in this thread), the image below is on screen, as Dr. Hammond (Richard Attenborough) says "Life will find a way", as the movie wraps up.

The timestamp actually comes whilst Hammond is mid-sentence, cutting in after he says 'Life', when he momentarily pauses then finishes with "will find a way". If you play the movie from the timestamp, it actually just sounds like "find a way", so i think this a clue to finding the Jurassic Way.

Hows that Rand0m?

EDIT: added audio file of the phrase at 1:56:29

Um, I'm a bit hamstrung here because I can't exactly remember how the solve works so I can't do a word-perfect run-through. Embarassed And anyway, is that what people would want?

But it goes something like this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Use part of the microdot text to find a story name. This is the bit I can't remember how to do. Not even the story name, or whether it's actually a film. Only its subject matter.

Then apply another part of the text to the story to come up with a film. This is the bit I've been dropping heavy hints about.

Then use the time code on that film.

we're close!

I think what Rand0m means is someone should play their Jurassic Park: The Lost World to 1 hour, 59 mins, 26 secs (or 1.59.26) and see what's there.

I'm highly curious now... but I don't have a Lost World CD/DVD. I tried to check the subtitles, but the timecodes say 1.59.26 lies in the credits section.

Am I right rand0m?

Yes, do Wink

(Having said as much to a couple of people at the party, it seems silly not to repeat it here...)

Is that it then? Jurassic Park = Jurassic Strata?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have the other 2 LOTR films, and the time/inclination to check either/both? Smile

Well, I checked it, and my copy of Adaptation runs to 1:50:26 (and this is a region 2 version, see it here). So Sad

As for the quotation at the end of the credits (in case different systems could be used to give different times):

Quote:
"We're all one thing, Lieutenant. That's what I've come to realize. Like cells in a body. 'Cept we can't see the body. The way fish can't see the ocean. And so we envy each other. Hurt each other. Hate each other. How silly is that? A heart cell hating a lung cell."
- Cassie from THE THREE

It then says something that is a spoiler for the end of the film and entirely non-relevant (or at least if it is relevant I'll eat my hat which I'll have to buy because I don't technically own a hat):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In loving memory of Donald Kaufman

then off into logos for people.

For people who don't know the film, the next bit provides a bit of context for The Three but is a minor spoiler for the film (in that it won't ruin your enjoyment but you'd be better off just watching it anyway as it'll make more sense that way).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Adaptation revolves around two twin brothers, Charlie (who is the real life writer of the film) and Donald (who doesn't exist) Kaufman. Donald decides he's going to emulate his brother and become a screenplay writer and The Three is the result. Its plot is only loosely described in the movie but involves a psychopath, a victim and a detective who all turn out to be the same person. Don't ask how, Charlie points out it doesn't make sense in the film. It's not meant to be any good but I'd probably pay to see it.

I also noticed that in the Thanks section they thank "The Guy on the Bench". It's not relevant but I noticed it anyway.

It's an interesting film and nicely bizarre. Should appeal to some people round here because it plays free and loose with reality and fiction. Unfortunately, with the timing inconsistency, I think that's as far as it goes unless someone has a different version.

I'd still check it out - at the end of the credits there's a quotation from the fictional "the three." not that I'm sure it's relevant (other than cell reference) or time-appropriate, still.
I would look at Jurassic Park, though. (I don't own many movies myself, so haven't been able to look these up).

Instead of film adaptations, could it simply refer to the actual film "Adaptation"?? Nicholas Cage film from a few years back about the Kauffman brothers.

Although i like the middle earth idea.

Anyone have a copy of Adaptation to check out whats happening or whats on screen at 1:59:26?

EDIT: Never mind, Adaptation is only 1 hour 54 minutes long according to imdb

Well it isn't Around the World in 80 Days unless I made a stupid mistake (wouldn't be the first, or second, or third time!)
