After downloading about 60 steg programs all of which either didn't work or gave me gibberish, I went looking for German steg apps. Thanks to google and about a million searches later I got here - http://www.fuer-freun.de/software/0505_sec.html - and the program stegano32 works! It just extracts straight to a text file containing the word "aardvark". Sorta lame that it required something so specific but meh, onwards!
