Just to clarify puzzle 59:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After downloading about 60 steg programs all of which either didn't work or gave me gibberish, I went looking for German steg apps.

Thanks to google and about a million searches later I got here - http://www.fuer-freun.de/software/0505_sec.html - and the program stegano32 works! It just extracts straight to a text file containing the word "aardvark". Sorta lame that it required something so specific but meh, onwards!

without having to download the software, you can learn to see the alternating black and white stripes as being either wide or narrow. The sequences are 9 bars long, beginning and ending with black, and having a narrow white band inbetween sequences. Ours then can be transcribed as:
Code:
w n n w n n n n w   w n w w n n n n n   w n w w n n n n n   n n n w n n w n w

Then, half-way down this page is a table for looking up the sequences. Ours becomes

1 3 3 7
or
leet

thanks again to twister for moving us along. Now, can anyone de-steg a .bmp for us?
