I also made some attempts based on the "What are these places?" question, to no avail.
For the record, the following did not work, so don't waste your attempt:
1. mountain
2. plain
3. plain
4. mountain
5. crater
6. crater
I haven't tried variations like "flood plain" for the plains or "volcano" for the mountains yet, but I think that might be going too far afield.

I tried "Ares Vallis" and "Sagan Memorial Station" as well as "Mars Pathfinder" for #2, with everything else as posted by Cassandra, with no luck.

I would try Ares Vallis. Perhaps the last two are asking for the person (ie, first and last name) instead of the crater? I seem to have lost this card, so I can't check

Taking a quick look at the leader board it doesn't look like anyone's quite figured out how to enter these places. The answer page just has numbered boxes to fill in, but I'd guess that they want the name of the feature at each location since every time we've wondered about the ambiguity of the wording on other cards it seems to have simply been paranoia on our part.
I tried answers as supplied by Cassandra in a couple of combinations. Both times I just wrote that it was the S.M.S. at #2, and I tried #5 and #6 with the word "crater" and without (since these features are often marked on maps like this) but neither worked.

Anyone managed to get this solved yet?
I've tried various possibilities - rethinking the wording on the card: what are these places?
Maybe its not as straight forward as the name of the places???
Help Please!!

Yep--it looks like all of these coordinates are on Mars, not Earth.

| BTW what is that little heart and the figure 10 about? It's in the upper left corner of the card. |
That is best answered by checkout out the FAQ. That repesents a playing card. Many other cards have similar symbols.

schiaparelli was a fairly important fashion designer who practically invented the bias cut. she liked bright pink. consider it derailed :)

10 of hearts?
how did i miss that before
sooooo... not wanting to give up on the silver card
what if this is a contingency plan, if we cant solve the card by itself (find a password for encoding the order of cards) we can collect 54 marked cards and find the order to decode the message that way.

yeah, under the W of What, there's a 10 with what could be a diamond but looks like an inverted triangle.
Just noting in case the Silver Shuffled card requires this information.

Card Code wha?
Is this like the ghost image of a card on the Whipsmart card?

I think the captions for the locations are hinting at something more here.
1- the chief designer could refer to Sergei Korolev, designer of Russia's Spacecraft Mars-Venus
2- Mons Olympus indicates a tough climb at Mount Olympus
3- Schiaparelli, who the crater was named after, mapped much of Mars, thus a farsighted mapmaker
4- the pioneer would be the Viking I, which landed at Chryse Planitia
5- the rover Sojourner landed at Ares Vallis as my first wheels
6- Pavonis Mons is the largest volcano on Mars, and Cotopaxi is the largest active volcano in Ecuador, right on the equator and definitely a good place for an elevator
I'm just not sure how to put this information together or if the location of the marks on the card has something to do with it.
