Well it would seem to be the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive version, given the combination of buttons given (the SNES for example had no Z button). If so then that means it would be Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition. Which I should have tried earlier but left the"special" out. Wish I'd noticed the earlier posts by riiick and quadschick.
One thing I have just noticed which I vaguely remember at the time. The title had a somewhat unexplained apostrophe in it like so: Street Fighter II', I have a link here
Surely they couldn't be that pedantic?

Hoping to find *one* exact name on a box, I did a Google images search for "street fighter 2" game which revealed Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II, Hyper Street Fighter II, anniversary editions, etc, etc, etc... depending on which game system you're using. I'm too frustrated to even go back to check which system uses that cheat, or if it was more than one system. Here we go again... ARRRGH!!!

Could be, although no mention of it being any different on the Game Genie site.

With regards to #3, if I remember correctly,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
SimCity 2000 (Sim City 2000?) also had the FUND cheat code, and it happened to deal with it a strange way if you typed it three times.
Has anyone tried that? I am, as usual, waiting for 24 more hours to roll round.

Wowbagger
Don't know how you guys have done with this over the last few days.
My two cents:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Attempt 1:
K-1: The Arena Fighters
Streetfighter 2
Sim City
Doom
The Sims
Super Mario Kart
Out of this World
Tomb Raider
Wing Commander
Jet Set Willy
Attempt 2:
Same but Streetfighter II
Attempt 3:
Same but Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition
And guess what? No joy.

Anyway, today I tried:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Attempt 1:
Contra (it's an awful lot like the Contra Code, so I thought I'd try)
Street Fighter 2
SimCity
Doom
The Sims
Super Mario Kart
Out of This World
Tomb Raider
Wing Commander
Jet Set Willy
Attempt 2:
K-1 The Arena Fighters
(all the rest the same as #1)
Attempt 3:
K-1: The Arena Fighters
Street Fighter II
(all the rest the same as #1)
Also, for #1, DDR 2nd Remix has a similar code, but as far as I can tell, there's no "start" at the end. I've never played DDR, so I have no clue, but I imagine there's a start button somewhere on the machine. Anyone?
Well DDR for playstation (I'll admit I have it... I'm so sorry...) came with a mat that has all of the arrows as well as start and select pads.
So theoretically it works that way.
However, as far as I remember (again I'm really sorry I know this) putting codes in just meant stepping on the right arrows really quickly, you never had to press start or select, the codes just got put in as you pressed them...

*Who* should apologize? So far, we've *all* gotten it wrong! Check the leaderboard...

I can't believe they didn't even apologise for getting it wrong. Hours wasted...

From what research I have done, it seems the version of Street Fighter II released for the Sega Genesis (Megadrive) was called "Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition".

I don't know about these games, but is this code for *two* versions?
On that same link you gave:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Fight as same character:
Note: A six-button controller is required to enable this code.
Press Down, Z, Up, X, A, Y, B, C on controller two at the battle mode screen that allows either match play or elimination rules to be enabled. A sound will confirm correct code entry. The same character may be selected more than one time.
Turbo champion mode:
Note: A six-button controller is required to enable this code.
Press Down, Z, Up, X, A, Y, B, C at the Street Fighter 2 logo.
SF2 Turbo is a different game. As near as I can tell, both of these codes just refer to SF2, but when input at different times, our #2 activates a different mode. See, in your excerpt, the first code is entered on the battle mode selection screen, and the second is entered on the logo screen for a different effect.
When in doubt, I say go for the original game.
EDIT: Well, this should settle something. Street Fighter II Turbo is the SNES version, and since its controller has only 4 buttons, it can't have this code!

I would have hoped they would use some kind of fairly lenient regular expression to check for these.
eg. The Street Fighter II one would let you get way with any entry than included the text "Street Fighter".
Maybe they'll get it fixed soon, or someone will find the correct combination and we can all copy it!

#2 could also be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition
Then again 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8 could all be two things...argh...i wonder how many combinations of all the answers, PLUS the different ways you could write numbers (II, or 2), PLUS punctuation it would take to get the right one....gotta love it

Ooh, Cassandra! That was post #333! (enter Twilight zone music)
Yeah, this one scares me! Punctuation, version, different games altogether, or something as stupid as needing a *space* after each one! ARRRGH!

Hmm... On second look of the top 20, I see this is one of those that *none* of us have! This is nuts!
