Tutty is a STUFFED bird. The parrot (aka, CROTHERS-PARROT) is a 'live' bird.
Tutty never lived, so he could never die...
Whatever, you said something very interesting. "Tutty is where the potato used to be."
Places that specialize in spud delicacies, or specializing in potato-based dishes?

If Tuttys not dead, with Crowthers-Bird, we now would have 2 Tutty's at the conclusion.
I think Captain blacked out the deathscene/burial, hence why they cant remember where the chest is.

During the p.oker ep. Captain mocks people who bring lucky charms to the table, then proceeds to cry over Tutty, who always brought him good luck. The only thing since losing Tutty he has won is the parrot, which he implies was unlucky to get stuck with.

I definitely like the idea of it being in a hole in a wall (now I'll be looking for shady restaurants) but what makes you think that Tutty died? He's a stuffed animal. He's certainly mentioned when the hole is made but has been switched with a potato, which implies that he's where the potato used to be, I suppose.
I wholeheartedly agree with the characters' stories, though I haven't been able to figure Tom's out. I think he's just there to point to things. I'm also rolling around the relationship with Crothers and the parrot, since the parrot is also bad luck. Crothers' bad luck + Parrot's bad luck = Tutty's good luck?
Anybody have a good trace of their paths? Mine all make figure 8's and random tree shapes.

Yeah, the very first clue in puzzle 1 is the solution. When they first mention the chest, the hole is first shown in the background over Toms shoulder.
Tutty was killed and buried in the hole in the wall of the ship with the treasure. So whenever you find the final location, you need to find a hole in the wall. Dont bother digging anywhere.
Each character has an ongoing story. Mulligan just wants to go to the crows nest, which he finally gets to in VIII.
Crowthers is unlucky, Tutty was good luck. Crowthers is not happy, Tutty is happy.Crowthers is slowly becoming Tutty and presumeably the last thing to return is the Luck by reminding Captain where the chest is.
Captain wants the chest back the whole time, but finally realizes what he truly wants is Tutty back, which jogs his memory that Tutty is with the chest.
Im growing to the idea that it is somewhere around Coney island. I used to think after ep 5(which definitely references lower brooklyn) we went back to manhattan, but that doesnt leave much time to clearly define where the chest is at the final spot.

Does anyone have any interpretations of what's going on in Ghost Story? I see all of the references to Master and Commander and I know that there's another reference to time at the end but other than that, the codes are so subtle that if I didn't know better, I wouldn't think that there were any there at all. Though I do wonder about that persistent hole in the cabin where the French cannoned through.

Crothers, luck, and the parrot
So Crothers is the luckiest man alive and all that luck were bad. Since winning the parrot, the captain's luck hit the end of the line. Crothers possesses the parrot and knows that all his (the parrot's) luck were bad. So was Crothers just fated to possess this parrot at some point or are these things more than simple foreshadowing? I know that Crothers is used as a timepiece to tell the order of the episodes but it looks like he represents luck somehow as well. Anybody figure out anything more solid on this particular topic?

Whatever, I think it's an excellent idea to go over the story and clues in a very simple way, as you have done. Getting back to basics can be very useful.

A general timeline
From very far away, we have the story of pirates who steal a treasure, galavant a bit, bury it, forget where they buried it, then try to remember where it is.
From a closer view:
The pirates meet sometime in the distant past.
They steal a treasure from Glove and Boots.
They run through Central Park (referenced in episode 1).
They get chased (ref in ep 2).
They board the subway and split up (ref in ep 3).
They continue on the subway? Maybe ride buses (ref in ep 5)?
They join back up outside of the subway (ep 6).
I have no idea what they're referencing in episodes 4, 8, and 9.
Now some time between stealing the treasure and here, they bury it.
Also some time after stealing the treasure and before burying it, Crothers loses an eye (the beginning of the final episode shows him all in one piece with the treasure).
Then they discover that they've forgotten where it is.
They talk about codes and retracing their steps (happens in ep 1).
They get chased by the British (ep 2).
They go on The Larry King (ep 3).
They play poker (ep 5).
They watch a video of a monkey reading a comic of them, then get attacked by the gorilla (ep 6).
The Black Tom happens (ep 4).
They talk of ghosts and Crothers gets killed (ep 7).
They hold a sťance (ep 8 ).
Now it's just zooming in further that's got me hung up for now.

Black Tom's clues
So Black Tom's sign post numbers belong in The Chase, his 1, 2, 3, 4 belong in The Larry King, his throwing star belongs in the WPPPT, his card-switching belongs in Monkey Business, his talk about their paths being one and destiny belong in The Black Tom, his talk about avoiding the way you've known/come and The North Part belong in The Ghost Story, his dusting (the only thing he does in The Ghost Story) belongs in The Sťance, and he only mutters fake Japanese during The Sťance so there's nothing left over or left to belong in the first video. Right?

I wrote to General Anesthetic
I sent a letter to the following address:
P.O. Box 294A
And a few weeks later had my letter returned with "Return to Sender, Attempted, Not Known" stamped on it, along with "Not 294" jotted down on it. So. There's that.

Construction threw me off today. I am still 100% certain it is there. Every single video has a reference to it and once you are there, it's very obvious. It's just not obvious where. I am pretty sure it's not buried in the traditional sense. I think it's buried but at "ground level" and I can't remember where that particular reference came from, but it also makes sense. I was distracted when I was watching the Larry King episode, but at one point wasn't there a woodchuck or something in it with another puppet and suddenly they were on top? That made me think "wood on top" which could mean it's under the boardwalk. Or it could mean that there are wood chips on top of where it is buried, which would also make sense because in between the entrances to the boardwalk, there are very small areas with wood chips and mulch and plants. They each have a small sign that says, "Green Streets" and they are right in front of where one would go to go under the boardwalk. Ironically, the "Soarin' Eagle" (aka flying birdie) is directly in front of the one I was sure it would be, but today they were doing construction and had areas off limits, which totally threw me off and depressed me. I checked and the Footprints cafe is still there though. Anyway, there were a ton more clues that popped out today, but I still think one of the biggest indications is the fact that the Gold Dollar Hotel used to be there. I mean, really. OK, well, I'm tired. At least I had a good time walking around since it was so nice out today and I brought my camera and got some good pics. (At least I hope they came out OK- haven't checked yet!)

Re: I know where it is!! I know it!
Otherwise, I'll go myself tomorrow because I'm 95% sure I know the spot. Anyone up for it!?
Let us know how you make out. There are some positives to the treasure being buried on a beach. It's okay to dig there, and at certain times of the year I think it may be possible to sneak the chest to certain spots and bury it without being noticed. However I'm not sure how they would know if it was found.
Coney Island has been mentioned a few times because of Hellgate and because they have a pirate ship. I have some of the crew there in ep5. For example, "Nice hat. Where's your legs?" is a reference to Neptune and Mermaid IMO. Anyway, good luck.
