I almost have the whole soundtrack downloaded, just having trouble finding the Go Gos (which is odd since I figured they'd be super easy to find) and one other song. I have a few ideas for some art work, but nothing made up at all. If anybody has some good ideas bust them out. Im just think super 80s with a sweet Tron twist.

I heard about the Tron Lightcycle ride from Bob Iger at the Tron Premier and left with the impression it was for DLR as well. But as you said, there are a great many things that never come to be (or change somewhere along the way).

i did see that they repainted and fixed up the glass on the people mover. maybe that was for star tours.

As for the light cycle ride, it was completely done in CG format and could be "virtually" ridden as of 12/17/10. riders were to be riding light cycles and have the feel of being in control. two cycles would race side by side.

sometimes these ideas just disappear. i hope that isnt the case with this one.

Well, iirc, the lightcycle ride is meant for Shanghai Disney. I could have sworn one of the insiders on a disney forum said Tom Staggs wanted to bring it over to WDW, but that he wasn't able to/was having a hard time convincing everyone else it was a good idea.

I was going to mention "Project Z" which had WDW fans terrified and excited at the same time (the thought was that it was going to be a new ride for Tomorrowland but it was actually a vinylmation thing)

The "TTA" of WDW learned a lot from the mistakes of DLR's peoplemover, which is why yours has no hills, is a lot shorter, and also is on a fully covered track.

With DLR, which is a similar problem with test track, if it rains at all the cars will lose traction and slide (only with peoplemover, not rocket rods) due to the tires and the oil build up. Also, when the ride would break down it was quite a long walk to go "rescue" guests.

They probably will never do anything with the track (If they can work out a tron ride it might go in where Eo runs right now) since there isn't that much space to work with as well. All of the rocket rods queue became buzz and it's storage area (where you went underground). I think the only reason they don't remove the track is that there simply is no benefit to that as well. They are kind of famous for leaving closed attractions where they were on the day they closed (coming back to pick off parts as needed) and only doing removal when they have something new going in.

The peoplemover tracks here in Orlando are in very good condition, but I would love to see a lightcycle ride go in somewhere like that. I was severely disappointed to see nothing Tron related going on here, not even merchandise, only the monorail. I talked to a few of the employees, but none of them seemed too enthusiastic. One reacted with surprise when I told her I loved the new one, and she said "A lot of people have mixed feelings about it" which doesnt really speak for all of Disney, but still...

No work has been done on the tracks and it's unlikely that anything will be used on them for a very long time (if ever). The stuff that you may have seen were setups for the Star Tours 2 launch (if looking in May) and (if looking now) the stuff they use for Ghost Galaxy's exterior stuff.

The tracks are mostly rusted out and rocket rods demoed that they can't handle high speed or rain.

Exactly. Since it looks as if work has been done on the people mover tracks, I wouldn't be surprised to see it go in there

thats what happens, disney sets a date. then as it approches they review it and decide to keep to it or extend it. So when april comes, maybe ElecTRONica will stay, maybe it'll move, maybe it'll be gone forever. theres no way of telling. the crowd seems strong though. probably stronger now than it was 6 months ago.

I'm assuming the lightcycle ride is still a go, so i figure that ElecTRONica would be around at least until then.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but at least from what I have read, there is some pretty decent evidence that its going to be leaving. At least one or two insiders from different disney forums have said that ElecTRONica will be leaving, to be replaced by an alice in wonderland themed party/whatever. Since then, Disney has registered several domain names that could be linked to said party so it looks like it is pretty possible that ElecTRONica is on its last run.

Update...Fall 2011

I just checked and I had most of these songs (the only two I don't have and am having trouble are Beatnik Beach and Get up and Go). But as someone who has spent a ton of time in Flynn's at Disneyland (I'm a former AP'er, but not the annoying type that has to tell everyone every chance they get, we didn't renew because of the yet-again price hikes) - I have to say a lot of these songs I never heard.

Just recently, we were there about 4 nights in a row over a holiday weekend, and I was in Flynn's playing foos/air hockey with my kids almost the entire time the arcade was open. There's a number of these songs I've never heard there, I won't name them all but...

The Cure..David Lindley, Bucker & Garcia, Dave Edmunds, Abacab.

I have a feeling their system plays certain songs more frequently than others, for example, they do the Separate Ways song (in which the lights then dim and flicker, annoying the bejeezus out of you if you're losing in air hockey and suddenly can't see Wink ).

Anyways, I know I'm necroing this a little bit, but the consistent answer I received from about 10 different employees I asked at Disney is that Electronica is ending in April of 2012.

I see a future in a pure 80's retro arcade...one that has ALL of the games, all for 25 cents, all 80's music, a two-story setup with multiple foosball and air hockey tables, and even a gift shop where us old fogies can get a new Member's Only jacket. I had done some market analysis, it is difficult to determine which cities something like this might thrive. But just imagine the mother of all retro arcades, something that once you step inside you really feel like you are in the 80s again (much like how Disneyland helps us escape).
