That's an interesting observation, Spiff.

Now that Portal 2 mod tools are available (basically it lets you create maps and stuff for mods) I have managed to see the models from the teaser, which were impossible to see before.

So by now I have found that in the US map with the marked travel there's another texture of it in the reversed side; but it is different. Check:

Let me explain that, from a developer perspective, this is done in purpose. The map is a model made by polygons. Optimisation for games is really important, so, the less polygons, the better.

The map has two sides, instead of one. That's why each face has a different texture. So the second texture had to be important.

I'm still looking the models, I'll post whatever strange I see.

other facts ive noticed about the portal 2 trailer
Other tidbits I’ve found with the train crash

- Here is a big thing that I’m working on. The train lives stock manifest says there is 15 kinds of steer cow, 10 kinds of heffer cow (spelled wrong?), 10 pork/sow and goat/var. that’s 40 livestock units and the manifest says that there is 933 tons on the train with these animals. If we look at the average weight of a steer cow we get 2500 pounds and there are 2000 us pounds to a Ton. Let’s say all 40 animals weigh 2500 pounds and then also say the vats of guano and zooplankton weight 1000 pounds each we get a total of 110,000 pounds. Convert this into tons and that about 55 tons. So where is the rest of the weight coming from on the train? 878 tons are missing in the manifest. Now I don’t know the policy with trains and the cargo they carry so the weight of the train could be included in the weight amount on the manifest if anyone knows I think this could tell us the size of the creature/ alien.

let me know what you think about these facts

That frame from the video was part of an ARG that dealt with the release of Portal 2. It's already done. Not part of super 8. Razz

How do I know? I had 17 potatoes.

I'm trying my best to ignore it, but this tiny speck in the back of my brain is telling me to stay off Unfiction and just wait for the movie to come out. I wish so badly we could progress in this ARG...

I've read about this before.
Very much NOT a part of the Super 8 ARG.

Where'd you see this youngpaddy1? The strings of numbers decimal to character translate to

Here's Da Beens, Dougtato:

You found many. Find the rest.

MikaXsUs FTW

Does this seem to mean anything to the ARG or is it for the Portal2 game?
The alpha symbol ties in - but I don't know...

EDIT: Just googled it - seems people first found the clip back in April. I haven't found anyone who knows what it means yet - but I'm still looking. It's probably not S8 ARG related - but who knows?

Has anyone else looked through the portal 2 trailers on their site, there is an odd occurrence in a couple of them. Only managed to get a grab of one of them just a coincidence I think with the alpha and the guy who was the penguin but you never know.

I added a file- the ratio tone generator.

http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:Traincar_cube_bl_c.png

The texture isn't detailed enough to make out anything interesting on the dial unfortunately. The dial appears to be (clockwise from top): Off, 1, 2, 3 (Test), Then 1, 2, 3 with some fractions on the outside of 2 and 3. Can't read them.

The screws look like L3-delta, L3-8, S2, K1. The metal plate that is also on the device and the dial are illegible, but the dial has a red J behind what looks like oriental lettering.

EDIT: More skins uploaded.

Also there was a folder of sounds for the teaser, which included subject_ambient (heavy breathing and high pitched whines and some clicking), subject_warn (more clicking but no breathing), subject_yell (screaming of the monster), goldenratio.wav, and the dialogue between the two radio operators.

Hope this is useful...

Thank you very much for the pics ..

I share the disgruntlement with all y'all. It's like- what are we looking for?

BTW- does anyone want me to post ALL of the original Portal 2 graphic files on flickr? It would take about 2 minutes to extract them all and put them up. If we are reasonably sure that all the info has been gleaned from the teaser, then that's fine too.

Note- there are some glitches with the teaser. If you look up in the sky after the train wreck, there is a metal wheel and a piece of debris floating up in the sky for some reason. Also wonder if the star positions are the same as in the Rocket Poppetteers game.

It'll be ok Jane. I have faith things will work out just great over the next couple of weeks leading to the release. Very Happy
