My thinking was that his statement that we all considered this to be "just a game" was an acknowledgement by Octavio that it was, in fact, a game. But remember, following the directions on the induction card was breaking Octavio's wishes... or was it? To play the game was to defy Octavio, but now he's telling us that he wanted us to play the game all along.

So when he says "Eva bless," that's not really a contradiction.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into all this.

I both agree and disagree with the sentiments of disappointment surrounding Sunday. I think with something so long and epic as this game, no ending would be completely satisfying because it is, after all, an end - and I would rather the thing not end. However, the logistics of a revolt and kidnapping might have been more complicated and risky than the team wanted to take on (like the Hip Hop kiosk that never ended up making it in the game) so they stayed with concepts they knew people would enjoy.

As for "Eva bless" I am still baffled by that turn - Octavio walked the line between breaking the fiction and making reality bleed into the game in a really awesome way and I'm not sure if that was just a sign off and good bye that was cool and fun or if it really does signal that these two groups really are one and not truly at odds.

I'm sad I didn't get to do every piece of this experience but I'm excited for his next project - and the fact I'll be able to be there from the beginning.

I thought it was the best possible ending. Up until Sunday we had all been suspending our disbelief and role-playing. Even during the first half of the seminar it felt as if everyone was a bit tense, as we just played along and listened to what we knew to be nonsense, all the while waiting to pretend to revolt against an actor pretending to be Octavio. Had we chased the Coleman actor out onto Market Street and thrown tea-balls at him, or pretended to take pictures of him committing crimes against nonchalance in the 1980s… would that really have been a better ending? I don't think so.

Instead, at some point, it all merged into reality, and by the end maybe we realized that-- surprise! The Jejune Institute really *is* a cult! It's just not a cult in which you hoard guns or drink poisoned punch; rather, it is one in which members find and befriend like-minded individuals, and find outlets for creativity.

Jeff Hull shared his vision for the reclamation of public space with us through the Jejune Institute, and helped bring us all into one another's lives. I think the finale of the game, and the subsequent Q&A, was pretty wonderful.

I'm with Everfalling on this one... I'm disappointed because every other part of the game was sooooooooo well done. There was back story and so many details that you were distracted at many points because you weren't sure which information was actually relevant.

The whole event on Sunday would have been fine as it was if we hadn't been pumped up ahead of time. But I guess that's just how one makes tea...

I would have rather had the game end at act IV. It was really, really amazing.

today was great but i gotta be honest that i'm a tad disappointed it was nothing BUT team building exercises. it would have been nice to use juvenescence as a team builder and then, as that team, revolt against the JI. It sorta felt like it ended in a whimper rather than an energetic bang. It was fun, don't get me wrong, i just feel like we were building up to a great climax and it didn't come. if anything i have more in-game questions than before. there was a reason everyone just kinda sat slaw jawed when Octavio said 'Eva bless' and then disappeared. all in all a great experience just not one i thought we were being lead to Razz

What a crazy experience! A lot of the content was trust-building exercises, which seemed reminiscent of Act IV.

Honestly my favorite part was at the very end, when Octavio came out, disappeared, and then we got to ask Jeff Hull questions. A Q&A with the game creator is a strange way to end the game, but then again, the entire game was pretty strange when you come right down to it.

I still feel like there's a lot of questions that were unanswered, but perhaps Jeff is right, and I need to read the contents of the repository more carefully.

Anyhow, looking forward to whatever Nonchalance does next.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Anyone else notice that there were several episodes of Look Around You spliced into the video? Specifically the one about Water (Thanks ants... Thanks.) and also the Maths episode.

Also, if your eyes are quick, the word "Everfalling" flashes on the screen very quickly.

yeah i had a hard time stifling a snicker when i saw the ants building the igloo and then clips from other episodes (and i saw Eldredge note down my reactions). to be fair that show really captures the style of 80's television so it fits right in with the rest of it.

Ever, just because the JI loves you enough to splice your name in between some awkward sex scenes doesn't mean you can hit on their cultists all willy nilly.

Today's experience was quite interesting... I feel as though the Doctor knew something was up. Could he tell through the video that we were up to something? Dunno, only time will tell...

Now, here comes the tin-foil hat theory. In the waiting room, Lashes said something about, "Oh I had so much fun in Act 4."

Act 4? As in the Chapel of the Bells Act 4? Something fishy is going on... Why would a Jejune Goon follow the path of Eva and the Hollowheads?

Friggin' strange.

I mentioned the same thing to one of my crew who was there with me. I have a strange feeling... Her name isn't Lash.

i got a hug from the girl with dark hair and the gold bands on her head. then i gave her a high five and taught her the elbow trick. didn't catch her name. she was /really/ cute. that is all.

also if the emails didn't explain it the bio globes are supposed to be the power source for the vital orbit force field device and we're instructed specifically not to put them in water.
