It looks like one "incident" took place right by my aunt and uncle's house. Right around west Vandalia. I also lived there for about a year. Pretty cool to think a movie will be set around a place I used to live in. I have also been to WPAFB many times, definitely some things going on in there that they aren't telling us.

There's handwriting around the map too if you look closely.

Size of missing dog? I don't know.

New Lebanon is located further from new Alexandria than Eaton, and on the map Lillian is closer than Eaton. Anyway what is confusing - every city on the map is represented by dot - but there is no dot for Lillian so we can't be sure where exactly it is located. Funny fact that there is Lillian Ave. and Lillians hotel in Dayton and Lillian Lane right outside Dayton.
In Poland we have tendency to name street and avenues using the names of surrounding cities and it makes Lillian very legit city in my point of view (of course i'm aware that is doesn't exist at all)

I think that New Lebanon is the geographic location of Lillian, but the scenes of Lillian are the re-vamped Wierton, WV set. You might look at Wierton, WV street views to locate the water tower.

Yeah i tried to look for water towers along highway 35 because the one seems to be prominently featured but i could really see anything.

Movie Story Location close to my house!!!
I know this is not helpful at all but, I saw the trailer today and I could see my town of Dayton, Ohio on the map that the Sheriff was holding. I live right next to WPAFB (Wright-Patt Air Force Base). I can literally look out of my door and see the whole base. I think it is so interesting that a movie is taking place right in my backyard!! Figuratively speaking, of course. But, I noticed that Lillian, Ohio is about 20 miles from Dayton in the trailer.

Lillian, Ohio ? -- def. fictional
looks like J.J. Abrams has other maps than google! =) but won`t be the first time google is wrong =), or maybe back in 1979 there was a town named lillian and it was vanished by "it"
looks like the incidents concentrate around a greater area around lillian

I live in Summit County myself and was wondering the same thing. The easiest explanation to come up with would be that the guy is a service member in the military and was either on leave or AWOL. Maybe he found out it was coming from other military officials and felt like he had to stop it.

I know this has been covered and Lillian is in a fake Tannen County.
What is bugging me is that I live just outside of Summit County, (county on the truck LP), which is just south of Cleveland in Northeast Ohio. It just seems odd that they would pick that license plate for the truck which wrecks the train that's heading for Wright Pat. Air force base which is in VERY southern Ohio. Think we should look into that a little more.

Weird numerals
Is it just me, or is there something weird about the numerals for Volume number etc, and the mentioning of See Page A2 or C4?
And the EHP Publication. Not sure how they used to have the newspapers back then in USA.
