RP sight had been working fine for me, while other were having problems, until I decided to join the club and register as an astronaut. The sight quit working for me a couple days after I filled out the questionnaire. Is it possible that the down website contains a clue, does it load and reload with a pattern?

Still works for me. I am using IE.

Wait is killing me! Any other good ARG's based on movies coming up?

From the [UPDATE] [STIES] New Printout thread.
In a nutshell, the Josh's thumb/Moby Dick book photo (when extracted from the .swf file) has GPS coordinates in the EXIF metadata that points to Bad Robot in Santa Monica.
Since this proves the photo was taken at Bad Robot, I naturally assumed they were in charge.

Ah, ok, thanks for the info. Just double checked myself. I would say that EXIF data is customizable, but since the rest of the data is all there as standard for iPhone meta data, I'm inclined to agree that Bad Robot at least has a heavy hand in the creation and running of this campaign. And I guess given how tight-lipped and secretive they are about their projects (save leaving iPhone EXIF details in the image, *tsk*, unless it was intended in which case, thanks =), doing this campaign as an in-house project isn't so far-fetched.

Anyway. back to the topic Wink

42E ??

Bad Robot.

Technically, we don't know yet who is running this campaign. Bad Robot is Abrams' production company creating the Super 8 film. We can presume they are overseeing or at least approving what's happening here, but as far I know, there's been no confirmation as to RP/STIES creators.
In short, for comparison, saying Bad Robot is doing this is like saying Disney did Flynn Lives.

I posted in the other RP.com thread, but I think this is actually the right place to mention it. As of this morning, when I try to blast off, the site seems to get stuck where the blast screen never goes back up and you can't see Capt. Coop floating in space anymore.

It makes all the usual blast off sounds and then just stops working. You can still turn the dial and press the buttons that make sounds, but that's all. I'm seeing this on Firefox and Safari.

Anyone else?

Remember when you used to get a white screen with Rocket Poppeteers on it in type? Yeah, well, that's the update. They simply deleted those words. The flash file is still the same size Razz

I'm having the infinite reload problem as well. If I put in anything after the last / then it works. For example:
http://www.rocketpoppeteers.com/a

One interesting note is that if I use:
http://www.rocketpoppeteers.com/login
I get the same infinite reload page...
Very Happy

Thanks for letting us know Jane. I was thinking maybe Astronaut Program too. If there's not an obvious registration area there, maybe we'll have to use the function switch. Or maybe it won't be there at all Rolling Eyes

Change Detection picked up something today 01/03/11

Now does this mean anything other than they are fixing something simple? I am not sure but I would suggest checking later on tonight.

Also maybe try Astronaut Program.

Crosses fingers,

Jane

Well, this morning its loading on this machine, using the same version of Firefox. I started with the black screen, but a refresh got the loading screen and then the usual site. I suspect the server may be having issues, especially if they've been tinkering in preparation for updates or even more load in anticipation of really launching things.

For everyone who got a letter or certificate and keep trying to 'register' - you've already registered. That's why you've got something back from them. So far there's no way once you are registered to log into anything. Here's to hoping that stage is coming soon.

Works fine for me as well. Still can't register on the Astronaut Program though...

Attempting to load the site tonight, I still get the convulsive refresh that many if not most others are getting. I decided to view the page source, and it kind of explains things:
Code:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="0.1"
META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache"
META HTTP-EQUIV="Expires" CONTENT="-1"
<TITLE></TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY><P></BODY>
</HTML>

(Had to remove some bits so the code would show right in the post. Just the <and> basically.)
Basically, the page has a refresh time of almost instantly, tells the browser not to cache the page, and is expiring it in the black hole time of -1 sec. You see the result.
