Ok, Toronto report coming in...
Managed to get to meetup location, Starbucks at Chapters by the IMAX... But Traffic Jammer went to a different one. d'oh. But he being the one with the bike took the quick run to meet up. Unfortunately battle_cat and t3h0p3rat0r weren't able to be there for the 11am rush. So it was the two of us.
I hate that Ustream video wouldn't work - it simply would not connect to the server, and I have no idea why. Because what came would have been awesome to have recorded. I mentioned earlier that I love technology... well right now nothing seemed to be working
Thanks to sirpoins for tweeting the GPS coordinates as soon as possible, and for the address. VERY helpful. Technology strikes again - google maps app wouldn't paste the coords. grr. Got it to work eventually, and ran out the door, TJ right behind me. We took a couple different routes to the drop location, but I ended up there first.
Almost had another pitcell incident - I was at GZ, but wasn't sure what to look for (completely forgot). I left to enter the nearby business (which looked suspiciously apt for a deaddrop) but was puzzled as to what to do. Saw TJ arrive by bike, who hadn't yet got to GZ. But with another irc tip to find a post, I walked up to the one right in front of me and for the find. Woot!
TJ made the call on his cell phone, got the first stage done. We were told to wait for a delivery guy. Battle_cat showed up at this point, so we stuck the remainder out together.
Now this was the awesome part - the delivery guy was completely in character. Dumont Shipping package for the contact (me). Had to sign the Dumont release form and everything. Instructions were not to open the package until further contact.
TJ got the next call again, instructing us to go to a nearby cafe to meet a FL agent. A couple blocks away, we arrived and opened the package. Met the agent inside, who asked for the phone for confirmation. All was good, she turned her laptop around to the page requesting a 7 digit code. That is all.
Puzzle #2 - inside the package was a very nice quality book, Kevin Flynn's The Digital Frontier (dust jacket and all). But the inside was cut out, a book-safe as it were, containing 3 pages (identified by AOEWaterborn I believe as pages from a Tron cabinet matinenance manual). The last page of the book also had 3 holes punched out, connected by a circuit line. Clearly, it had to be placed correctly to reveal the code.
Here, I fail.

I was looking for instructions, and the closest I found was about * and # being the beginning and end of a circuit route instruction or something... so I was running with that, but couldn't find a 7 digit code. TJ just suggested finding a spot that revealed numbers through each of the holes. I was skeptical

but almost immediately 7 digits appeared in one position. Bingo. Node activated.
We stuck around a bit more, wary since the owner of the cafe we were in was about to kick us out (including the agent, who saved the day for us all because she'd purchased a drink earlier

) We chatted a bit, then headed out to find a better spot to camp for the rest of the day.
And now we're here. waiting. end of line.
I uploaded a bunch of pics to my twitter
@thebruce0. I'll get more organized later.
battlecat took some video and we have a few other pics from the livedrop too, which also will come later
Awesome event! And great teamwork

thanks to the online folk for the quick tips!
