Because there was very little story here that we were involved with. We went, supported Sam and Alan, did a couple of extra-curricular things, and now it trails off. And that's curious. 42E generally does a decent job with having some kind of story arc. Here I feel as though I am one chapter away from the end.

Among other things, who is Zack?

I've been sitting on the same feeling for a while now. I think it's been a bit of a misnomer to refer to this as an "ARG", as we've not done or been involved in anything close to blurring any line between reality and the movie world.
We've found some sites, scored some swag, and ultimately if you put this Tron: Legacy game up against any other true ARG, it wouldn't hold up.

This isn't a complaint, but I haven't felt "sucked in" to this game. There's been tasks, we've completed them, and nothing really has stood out as a point I could look back on and say yeah, there it is.

I've also felt that 42E may very well have been severely restricted by what they could and couldn't do, so much that 42E may never even admit to what didn't get done if they want to keep Disney as a client.

Just my .02, I'm not dissatisfied or complaining-hell, I got a free phone and vintage Tron wallet my first day of playing-but come on. This wasn't an ARG. Sad

Only problem is Zack owns Arcade Aid, a real life vintage arcade store that exists in Flynn's real world, meaning he can't be Clu or Kevin since he's not, you know, on the grid... Rolling Eyes

Or Kevin Flynn... he could be trying to get people to find him with out raising any flags coming through the TRON software since he (TRON) acts like a firewall.

It could also be CLU, wanting us to find Sam and get him on the grid so he can eat him or whatever he has planned for him.

Flynn Lives is now an award winning promotion

Quote:
Finally, the “Flynn Lives” Alternate Reality Game (ARG) took the honor of Outstanding Achievement for a promotional event during San Diego ComicCon 2010. The ARG combined elements of promotion, puzzles, game play, scavenger hunting and location-based entertainment into a completely new kind of guest experience. To promote the upcoming TRON LEGACY (a sequel/reboot of the groundbreaking original TRON film), this ARG created an experiential groundswell of interest in the film over nearly two years, leveraging social media and online connectivity to tell a compelling, immersive story that feels inherently part of the digital world of the film, filled with labyrinthine computer networks and competitive video games.

Starting with influential online bloggers and fans, the game created a “resistance movement” themed to the film’s mysterious digital-world storyline, told through numerous interconnected websites and real-world puzzles. This created a parallel story to the film, both online and within the real world – the characters from the movies would affect the player’s real lives with media, events, and rewards. All of the game’s events encouraged global collaboration – many puzzles could not be solved by a single player, and were played by people all over the world. Each step of the game would result in a real-world event; players were often rewarded with game “swag” mailed to them from the resistance movement, keeping them engaged. Certain puzzles led to secret real-world “drops” or phone calls with clandestine clues. Each step of the ARG progressed in scope and scale to include more and more of the real world. In particular, major real-world events like ComicCon included giant location-based attractions as part of the ARG, such as a full-size arcade recreated from the film at ComicCon 2009, and the futuristic “End Of Line” nightclub at ComicCon 2010 – a themed environment with wrap-around HD projection to create the feeling of flying inside the computer world.

Anyone notice the dialogue "easter egg"? In the original TRON, when Kevin is first zapped onto the Grid, he says "Oh man, this isn't happening...". When Sam is zapped onto the Gride he says "This isn't happening." Just thought I'd point that out. Oh also, the black guards are the upgraded version of the original Tron guards. Notice the gas mask type ventilator on this guy

and then again on this guy, but moved to the side of his helmet:

Hey I've been following this thread for quite some time now and see some former players of other games like There's Something in the Sea but I just checked the Flynn Lives site and there are 4 collectors pins from arcade aid coming to our door. Just thought everyone should know.
You do know you have to earn them, right?
If you've already found all 167 games (twice?), goodonya!
If not, get crackin'! http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30597
Or, am I being punked?

Oh I earned them
