All I have to say is that this better be 'the scariest thing I ever saw" when it comes out and not another ET lookin thing.
Actually, its going to be hard to live up to this claim for them .. If, after all this hype, it turns out to be just another ugly alien, thats not going to do it.. However, if its something the alien has been seen doing on the super 8 film to something/someone else, thats got a chance.. Personally, I'm fairly convinced that the casting call was NOT for SUPER 8, nor is LITTLE DARLINGS a fake codename for S8 production.
On July 1 I linked to a Hollywood Reporter article which mentioned casting girls for LD in April, weeks before the casting call 'news' broke as suspected to be S8: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=715370&search_id=716462065#715370 I doubt JJ rigged that article in THR a month before we even heard about casting in terms (right or wrong) about S8. My money remains on these being two separate films. This doesn't rule out 'kids' being in SUPER 8 -- we've heard all along it might be (late) teenagers filming a movie and capturing *something* on their camera — but not those casting call sheet kids. For a first post, it was very well thought out. And I wouldn't worry about the trouting, you atleast read the boards before posing your questions
I will say this when I first read the "did a child establish a connection with the alien" my first thought was oddly enough of The Watchers. An older movie about a monster being connected psychically to a dog. The only thing I will mention otherwise, is I think some people are still up in the air as to whether or not there will be a cast of children in this movie. OK, After a mind numbing few hours of reading most posts
 to avoid the trout, I'm sure I missed something and find the boomerang trout flying at me.
I agree there is more to the crash than just a regular truck hitting the train. Also in agreement that is was deliberate. From some speculation, whatever the project is,it was shut down either because there was nothing more to learn, or it became too dangerous to keep active, but too valuable to destroy. Thus transporting everything to Wright Patt for secure storage (in theory). Now not too much discussion was made regarding the NASA experiments with gifted children being trained to possibly communicate with aliens.

OK, with that being said, was the alien and children put in a type of stasis and transported for storage . (potential use of the canister seen during the crash being thrown out),with all the material used. Things to consider.... 1- was the driver of the truck a scientist that had a moral problem with storing the alien and /or kid? Could the driver be one of the parents/relative of the child, trying to stop the government from taking their kid? (tipped off by someone in the program) 2 - was the truck loaded with explosives knowing the containers would protect them. 3 - Who is really in that rail car.....is it the alien with the kid on the outside helping or the alien helping the kid get out? or both working together in the car( it seems like there are two forces at work, one physical one telekinetic ). Even longer limb..........Was Evelyn Minker (pos alias...see below) associated with the program? Did she keep personal records of the project stored away and found by Josh after she passed. (josh possibly found a name to contact and someone is telling him to be quiet about it)....Talked about previously I believe 4 - Assuming Josh is older (in his 40's), is there a potential he could have been that child? His memory somehow lost. Protected by Evelyn and raised as her own?Maybe we are seeing a journey of his life reconstructed and growing awareness (maybe explaining his attraction to really fkn ugly and random fish)... wow things you think of when you are tired...  (I've only got two brain cells functioning right now, and one is chasing the other around with a knife)
5 - Was the rocketpoppeteer club a method used by the government/NASA to find this children for the experiments? After signing up, they were sent puzzles ( to help cpt cooper do battle) that scientists think only gifted kids could answer or answer a certain way? It should be interesting to see what membership items and tasks are sent to people now. In regards to the computer and some parts in the train wreckage, possibly not being "era correct". The government had access to the latest and greatest technology 1-2 years before it was available to the public. ***I used the "Search" function to find this!*** At first, I thought everyone was crazy with the whole "In theaters January 01, 1970" thing. I could not find (the date) searching Apple's site, nor any other information ...
