I live in San Francisco where I have (and need) a jacket for every day of the week! So it's always nice add one of the game pins on it for the perfect filigree.

Those jackets had shoulder pads. Big difference...

And here I was thinking everybody wore jackets 24/7 in Miami.

If I had a jacket I'd certainly wear it... I'm in Miami. You think we wear jackets down here? We'd combust! Razz

And, as it relates to Lex's post, I'm #2. I do not have anywhere near the patience or tenacity needed to blast a thousand of those things. Wink

Got my package a couple of days ago, had both the 89 materials and the 999 materials.

I love the 89 pin, put it on my jacket right away. The pins are truly my favorite items to receive. Just like my Citizens for Batman pin, the more esoteric the better.

Thanks, 42E!

has anyone 'found' sam without killing 999 recognizers? I would be interested in seeing if the recognizer pin was mailed only to conserve postage or if it is actually part of this milestone.

It wasn't entirely intentional, but I can now verify that someone who finds Sam without earning the badge for 999 Recognizers* will receive only the 89 pin (and stickers and note, of course).

*I had to blast 999 Recognizers three [censored] times -- not counting various additional efforts that aborted prematurely for miscellaneous reasons -- before the badge finally showed up on my FL profile. I don't know whether I'll be receiving a second package with the related swag... because the second package I received from FLYNN LIVES yesterday contained not a recognizer pin but -- at long last -- my Encom employee badge! Woohoo!

Ok I am confused. Do you get a package if you just enter the name of the place where Sam Flynn was, or would you get it for having killed the 999 recognizers?

I'm pretty sure there's 3 types of package being sent out...
1) For getting both the Search for Sam badge and the Overkill badge, you get the full package: two 89 stickers, one 89 pin, one Space Paranoids pin and both messages.
2) For getting only the Search for Sam badge, you get the 89 package: two 89 stickers, one 89 pin, and the "thanks for helping find Sam" message.
3) For getting only the Overkill badge, you get the Space Paranoids package: one Space Paranoids pin, and the "999 recognizers" message.

I'm not entirely sure about number 3, but 1 and 2 I'm absolutely sure about.

As Nighthawk hinted to, they would use given port numbers for creating a site on their intranet before launching it live. However, if you want to be safer on the chances something won't leak if there's another mistake upstream, you wouldn't use the normal port 80 or 8080 that most web servers use (careful Nighthawk, some goofy NAT/web transversal comes about and your sites could accidentally go live very easily using those ports). More particularly though is that the things I could find listed that normally use port 9091 are an IM server and XML mail variant. Just makes one wonder.

For posterity's sake, I'll try to post pictures of it in the near future.

^ Weird. I got mine today as well, but it had a stamps.com stamp on it for $1.22 and was delivered via USPS first class mail.

It's probably a port number for internal development and/or testing; I do it all the time myself because on my Windows development machine I can only have one website on any given port, so I have multiple websites at ports 80, 8080, 8081, etc...

They probably forgot to switch it from an absolute link to a relative one.

On an unrelated note, I just received my Flynn Lives pin, two decals and note. But, to be honest, I don't know how I got it: it supposedly came regular mail, and has three stamps on it - 17 cents, 5 cents and 1 cent - which doesn't appear to be enough postage to mail it cross-country. Even with that, the stamps have been scratched out with a pen and there's no postmark, so it doesn't even look like it was handled by the USPS.
