HAND KISS!
I definitely had my hand kissed--but when I asked the other members of my group if they'd felt it too, they all looked at me like I was crazypants. I thought maybe I'd imagined it.
|
by the way, greetings from a long time lurker. |
heh that happened to one of our squad members. |
Gee whiz, do you think it means something?
MAYBE THAT WE ARE THE CHOSEN ONES...?
Chosen for *what*, though...

A Question
I've got the audio files posted on megaupload and the images from the lost mixtape on my flickr page. I put them there to share with my squad. Does anyone object to me posting them here?

Ah...Vernal Equinox did not have a chalk drawing. We did spot someone on the "trail" 2 blocks ahead of us when we first started and they quickly turned around and ran off.
Also...did anyone else have their hand kissed prior to all members removing the blindfolds?

ok so i wanna say track #3 is 'Underground Girl of the World" by Tyrants in Therapy in their album Super Scratch Mix (vinyl) BUT i can't seem to actually get the songs or the lyrics. all the sites i find are clone scam sites with sample previews that don't work. the only reason i think this is the right track is because it was made in 1984 (which would fit the time) and it seems to be the only consistent thing that shows up for that song title. but i might be completely off.
for track #10 it seems to be a combination of two things. one you got right, which is the song Loie by Ike Quebec. i ended up downloading the song from itunes just to be sure... the dialogue in the background though seems to be called "Let It Down" by Lord Buckley.
you can find a transcription of the routine here: http://homepage.mac.com/tedgoranson/BeatlesArchives/Buckleyroutines/Lord_Buckley/Let_It_Down25.html
and here's a sample of the track by itself: http://www.ilike.com/artist/Lord+Buckley/track/Let+It+Down
here's a few edits to your transcription of the last track:
It's a simple little thing, really, a cassette tape. There are millions of them on the planet, aren't there? And this one is full of songs I put together for you, my dears. The San Francisco Savants, my people, my tribe. And these songs are a few of the billions of recordings on this planet so far, left like messages to you. And when I put these songs together in this way, it becomes absolutely unique. Like a fingerprint, or a signature. This tape is one-of-a kind. And I left this fingerprint for you. And when you put it under a microscope, it becomes a map. And when you hold the map close to your face, and breathe into it, you will hear a river start. And when you see the river, get in. You can float languidly down the stream. And there, someday, you will find me. Trust me, eventually this will all make sense. It may take years and years, but as you know, time is irrelevant. So take this tape, and listen. Listen to these words. Hear the music. And, then, finally, when you are in the right place, at the right time, with the right person by your side, it will suddenly make perfect sense. And I promise, everything will become clear. Okay? In the meantime, please don't be concerned about me. I am exactly where I am meant to be. And that's why I left this for you. So that someday, you'd find me. When you're ready. And in the meantime, it will just take some patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience. Patience.

SIDE B
8. [NEED TO IDENTIFY] Piano track that also automatically plays on the Nonchalance website. After a million listens, I still can't place where this song is from. Any ideas? Shazam guesses that its “Peace Piece” by Bill Evans, but even that isn’t exactly right. Again, thoughts appreciated.

The Lost Mixtape, Revealed
Alright folks, after hearing The Lost Mixtape a million times, I've identified pretty much everything on it except for a few tracks. I'm posting the title of the track (song or movie clip), the artist, and the year it was released in order to get an overall view of the tape's timeline as it relates to Eva's journey.
If you can fill in the blanks for me, please do. The last few misses pieces are driving me batty.
That said, allow me to present to you some major spoilers. I'm serious, don't look here unless you want the contents ruined for you.
THE LOST MIXTAPE REVEALED! (well, almost)
| Spoiler (Rollover to View): |
SIDE A
1. Movie Quote from "Stranger Than Paradise" [1984]
This piece features the classic TV Dinner discussion scene. Not so coincidentally, the main female character's name is Eva.
2. “Go” by Tones on Tail [1984]
3. [NEED TO IDENTIFY] chorus lyrics are, “Underground Girl Of The World.” I’ve never heard this song before, and have no idea what it could be. Thoughts?
4. “The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight” by Dominatrix [1983]
5. “Feel Up” by Grace Jones [1981]
6. “Diva” by Jean Michel Jarre [1985]
7. “Wordy Rappinghood” by Tom Tom Club [1981]
8. “The Point” by Harry Nilsson [1971]
I don’t know exactly where this spoken word was taken from, since this has been an animated movie and an album. The story is “about a boy named Oblio, the only round-headed person in the Pointed Village, where by law everyone and everything had to have a point.” And, “Oblio and Arrow are sent to the Pointless Forest, but soon discover that even the Pointless Forest has a point.” Obvious, strong parallels to our Nonchalant experiences. Dig deep.
9. Spoken Word entitled “Down The Drain” by Ken Nordine [1976]
10. [NEED TO IDENTIFY] “Loie” by Ike Quebec
This one is just a guess from Shazam. The two tracks aren’t exactly the same, but its close. It’s simply too hard to separate the millions of Bossa Nova tracks out there. Any thoughts are appreciated.
SIDE B
1. “Walking and Falling” by Laurie Anderson [1984]
2. “Girl's Imagination” by The Del-Bzanteens [1981]
3. “Typical Girls” by The Slits [1979]
4. This one is tricky. I'm pretty sure the music is "Franz Shubert" by Kraftwerk, but there are two spoken word pieces included. The first one is from “Where The Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein, and the second one is “America” by Allen Ginsberg.
5. Movie Quote from "Rumble Fish" by Francis Ford Coppola
This piece features a conversation about how seeing things in an unconventional way doesn't make you crazy. It may, however, make you Nonchalant.
6. “Larf And Sing” by Family [1971]
7. “Save Some” by John Martyn [1980]
9. At the end of the piano selection, Eva says this:
It's a simple way of (feeling the rhythm? – can’t make this out for some reason, help if you can), a cassette tape. There are millions of them on the planet, aren't there? And this one is full of songs I put together for you, my dears. The San Francisco Savants, my people, my tribe. And these songs are a few of the billions of recordings on this planet so far, left with little messages to you. And when I put these songs together in this way, it becomes absolutely unique. ok i just listened to the tape... i'm a tad confused because what i thought we were looking for was the lost DEMO tape "Pedestals & Prisons" (see: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=421836485&blogId=441459409). meaning a compilation of music created by the savants. This seems to be a tape made FOR the Savants and acts as a sort of map somehow. I wonder maybe if there's a second tape somewhere? there's no doubt this is 'the lost mix tape' that the EPWA is trying to get as it's made by the queen herself but it's something completely different than what was mentioned much earlier on.

the 'rest of us' might not get around to their own events for a few weeks so i'd say go ahead and ask what you want.

my one and only complaint: THAT I CAN'T DO IT AGAIN.
. . .this is the first act that seems to be un-repeatable. . . . It's both great because of how intimate it is but also slightly disappointing that there's no way to experience it again. though i suppose it'd lose it's mystery and surprise if you could go at will. |
I suppose you may be correct about that.
