One of Dan's favorite tv shows is "The Replacements"
I posted this in the theories thread, but it goes here, too:
Madrigals infiltrate by impersonation.

"How do we get past all these people?"
Dan thought it over. "When you go to a movie, what do you pay attention to, the audience or the screen?"
She frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"Maybe we can melt into the swarm and slip out the other side."
Amy wasn't a fan of crowds even when she was totally welcome. The idea of putting herself in the middle of thirty enemies made her nauseous. On the other hand, it was a plan - their only plan. Waiting around was risky, too. It was merely a matter of time before somebody realized they were intruders.
"Let's try it."
They stepped briskly out from behind the statue, not quite running, trying to project an air of belonging. Dan sidled up to the fire-sword audience. Amy joined the throng around the squirt painters, who were removing their latest creation from the wheel - a sunburst of reds and yellows. Her timing was perfect. The spectators burst into a rousing ovation, and she applauded along with them. Nervousness turned to exhilaration. She'd done it! She was one of them! A cheering man clapped her on the shoulder and nearly knocked her over. |

Just because artists, scientists and diplomats visit Grace's mansion doesn't mean she's Madrigal. Grace could very well be Ekat but on good terms with the other branches. Maybe Grace is a free agent and works for any branch for the good of the 39 Clues.
Grace could also just be good friends with many artists, scientists and diplomats.
There are just so many things we DONT know about Grace...... |
You said she could work for different branches, wouldn't that just prove my point becouse as far as I know, you can't switch branches
And in other areas of this thread we said that the madrigals are keeping the 39 clues safe... |
I didnt say she worked for the Ekats or any other branch. Grace may just BE an Ekat but the Ekats dont know it or Grace just didnt join them. As for switching branches, one can always defect from a branch, but whether youll survive after that is another matter.
And when i said on good terms with the other branches, im saying that Grace can be a wild card where she may help the branches do certain things.
Example: Grace helps Lucians find a clue. Grace helps Janus hide a clue and leave clues to clue. Grace help Ekats steal clue from Tomas (unlikely but who knows?)

I agree. These fellows are just plain weird and not to mention creepy. Maybe this is what makes the series so interesting to have possibly evil people following you and then suddenly show up in the middle of nowhere.
I just hope some mysteries concerning the Madrigals are cleared up in the 5th book.
P.S:How was the book signing? Did you get your book signed? |
Yup.... There was these kids there.... that just noticed the wind pattern.... waste of time..... But besides that.... it was fun.....

Either in the early days the clues where a combined effort of the four branches, or they where arranged by a third party. This third party could be the Madrigals. My theory is that the original cahills found the secret to that power. They all shared this power, and soon began to fight over it, as is human nature. The secret was turned into the 39 clues by the Madrigals. Each branch recovered some clues and hid them to keep them away from the other branches. The Madrigals saw that ultimate power did not end well, and decided to make sure no one could obtain it. I think the Madrigals are the "trunk of the tree" as was said earlier. Out of the branches, some Cahills did not believe anyone should have ultimate power. They joined together and had a sort of coup. This band of Cahills from all four branches became the Madrigals, a song with four parts. |
I like this. Must have taken you a bit of time to come up with it. For all you know, the Madrigals are protecting the clues from the corrupt Cahills.

| I've seen many people here saying that the letter given on the last page of 1FN is about madrigals. I cannot find anything which suggests that this letter is about madrigals. Please help me out. Where did you find anything related to madrigals in this letter? |
Since the letter said thet their agents "impersonate" Cahills to "infiltrate" the four branches, we assumed that Section 7 has to be something to do with madrigals. Or else why would Section 7 be so interested in the Cahills and the 39 clues? |
Because it's a front for the Lucian branch's clue hunting ventures?
How else would a Lucian of high rank be able to tell this shadow organization that they have to take in his dimwitted brother? (Gordon Klose) |
You got a point there about Gordon. But still, why would the Section 7 agents need to "impersonate" Cahills to infiltrate the family if the agents are Lucians and are already Cahills? |
In addition to what BEDOMII said, doesn't it make sense for a bunch of spies to know how to get into places they're not supposed to be by using disguise?

Actually, some of us here have been doing that already. How many of you created other accounts in other branches? This is just the same
