Silverladder is starting on it's second month and looks to go for a full year. It has it's own forum section here in uF.

Eldritch Errors is just about at the end of the half-time show, getting ready to start the third quarter.

Both of these are heavy on character interaction and player content creativity. Not too much puzzles.

It sounds like you understand what an ARG is; however, if you have any doubt, be sure to check out Imbri's ARG Quickstart Guide.

A few years ago, the BBC developed a wonderful single-player ARG called Jamie Kane. You can play at your own pace, and the 15-day game always starts at the very beginning. Although it's not a traditional ARG (it's pretty linear, no community collaboration, etc.), it is still a great game to start with. Some people have said that the first email of the game no longer sends when you sign up; if that happens, contact customer support. Trust me, the game is worth it. Smile

Of course, the best place to go to find new games is the News & Rumors section of the forums. New games get posted there all the time, and games in that forum have usually not been running long, so they are easy to catch up on. Then, you can play along with the community and immerse yourself within an ARG!

Many games get reported on ARGNet, the major news site for ARGs, so you may want to check there for the latest ARG news. Also beneficial for ARG news is the weekly ARGNetcast, a podcast about ARGs.

Welcome to the community! Smile

Ah, this is all very helpful information! Thanks a ton.

I'm unfamiliar with what a podcast is and how I would use one, though.

I was reading a bit about Deus City or whatever it was that just ended, and it sounded really neat. Do large-scale ARGs that span more than a few months come up very often? Anything like that seems like it would be really cool to get into.

Excellent response time on here!

I'll look into this one, thanks for the heads up. This site seems like the place to go for information, eh?

By the way, if you (or anyone else) would like to chat with me about any ongoing or new ARGs, feel free to message me on here or AIM me @ "Famine Riddle".

[OT] New to ARGs...(looking for advice)

Hello, everyone.

I'm new to ARGs. I'm familiar with the concept, having heard about The Lost Experience and Red Monday (though I'm not quite sure what Red Monday is about). Having just re-watched "The Game" with Michael Douglas, my interest in ARGs has resurfaced. I guess what I'm looking to know is, what is the best way for me to get started and become a part of an active community that runs their own games, or keeps vigilant watch for new games to surface?

I've been to a few other ARG sites (the upper echelon of those listed on wikipedia) but they've either been too confusing, or not active enough. If anyone on here could give me some advice on where to go, what to look for, and essentially just the best and most efficient means to find and get involved in good ARGs! I'm essentially looking for an active community that will be able to keep me updated on new ARGs and help me potentially get involved in current games. I would appreciate any help.
