All in all, I'll wait the extra 5 minutes and have my burger cooked properly.

| I think it assumes that a burger is removed automatically when it's cooked, without you needing to specify that in the solve.
|
This puzzle is sometimes written to be toasting bread under a grill, I've seen it in a job interview in that form anyway.

the accepted solution is deceiving
The accepted solution to this card is, IMHO, incorrect.
The recipe says to cook 5 min on a side,
| Spoiler (Rollover to View): |
| but the accepted solution calls for 10 minutes for 1 of the burgers. I don't know about you.. but I grill burgers all the time and a 10 minute on a side burger is pretty tough. Good thing he doesn't claim to be an expert chef. Instead of cooked for the last 5 minutes, that single burger should be taken off instead. But perplexcity won't accept that. I guess they like their meat overdone. ICK.

1) It's not barbecue or barbecue: it's grilling. From Wikipedia: "...grilling is almost always a fast process over high heat and barbecue is almost always a slow process using indirect heat and/or hot smoke. For example, in a typical home grill, grilled foods are cooked on a grate directly over hot charcoal; while in barbecuing, the coals are dispersed to the sides or at significant distance from the grate. Alternately, an apparatus called a smoker with a separate fire box may be used. Hot smoke is drawn past the meat by convection for very slow cooking." Being from Kansas City, the barbecue capital of the world (Memphis ain't got nuthin' on us), I HATE it when people think they're great barbecuers when all thay did was heat up some burgers outside.
2)While it makes a good puzzle, oliverkeers13 is right: leaving half-cooked meat out for five minutes in any environment, let alone an outdoors environment is dangerous. Always make sure you fully cook raw meat to an internal temprature of at lease 180 degrees Farenheit.
"Now we know!" ...and knowing is half the battle.

I have just solved this card but I am not sure how to use the spoilers!
| Spoiler (Rollover to View): |
| 1st Column Burger A should be (from top to bottom) Top, Bottom, Cooked, Cooked. 2nd Column Burger B (from top to bottom) should be Top, Off, Bottom, Cooked. 3rd Column Burger C (from top to bottom) should be Off, Top, Bottom, Cooked.
|
Lets see if this is now in a spoiler box.
I did my first spoiler and it worked!!!! Yeeeehhhhahaaaaaaa!

yeah the little answer thing they have set up isn't the easiest to deal with. I think they have something like
| Spoiler (Rollover to View): |
| side a, side b, off, done for each one right? 1 should be side a, side b, done, off, 2 should be side a, off, side b, done, and 3 should be off, side a, side b, done. At least i think so

Yeah it's Sente, since the card tells us he cooks the meal!
I would also assume the other three are Violet, Kurt and Scarlet, making them the top three students?

Sente is the chef, cooking for Scarlett, Violet and Kurt by the looks of things.

I think they were going for the silly "queue" pun.

This one's easy...
| Spoiler (Rollover to View): |
Number the burgers 1, 2 and 3.
Step 1 - put 1 and 2 on the grill
wait 5 mins
Step 2 - flip 1, switch 2 for 3
wait 5 mins
Step 3 - 1 is cooked (serve it), flip 2, place 3 back on the grill (flipped)
wait 5 mins
Serve 2 and 3

Old one this
| Spoiler (Rollover to View): |
first cook burgers 1 and 2 on side A.
Flip burger 1 onto side B, remove burger 2, replacing it with Burger 3 side A
Remove Burger 1, put burger 2 side B on it, and flip burger 3 to side B
|
There ya go, perfect burgers in 15 minutes (although I would question the policy of leaving half cooked meat outside for 5 minutes)
