As my avatar would say...
They are all SLUTS!
Seriously, when hasn't the academy not whored out for the almighty dollar?

Forget Alice in Wonderland, Hereafter had only one scene that maybe could have been noteworthy from a VFX standpoint and it still got nominated over TRON.

What makes me especially annoyed at the Academy is this whole ten best picture nominations stunt that they're pulling. For years people have complained that the academy rarely recognizes truly outstanding movies if they also happen to be main stream successes, and only focusses on art house stuff, so instead of actually addressing the issue they just added five more nomination slots that mean absolutely nothing.
Inception and Toy Story 3 both deserve more than just an afterthought nomination and the whole thing really cheapens what it means to be nominated for Best Picture.

Many of the academy's voting members have their heads up their asses to dismiss and snub certain movies, and it's moronic for them to not even nominate Tron Legacy for VFX or soundtrack.

Nearly every year there are talent actors, actresses and films that should have got nominations but where snubbed by the Oscar academy.

Black Swan was actually an amazing film from a brilliant filmmaker. As are many of the other nominated films. I've never gone in for the shitting on one film just because a film I love got shafted game. That being said, I still say that the entire academy system is broken for Legacy not to have been nominated for visual effects and for DP's score not to be nominated.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

I guess lesbian scenes equal an oscar. I heard Black Swan sucked ass.
If it's the scene between Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman, please include a link of this

On a side note, EDGECRUSHER, what did you mean by singling out the animated films that were nominated? I sincerely hope you weren't trying to imply that they were lesser films because they were animated because that would be equally, if not more narrow minded than the Academy's snubbing of TRON: Legacy.
I just threw in a few catagories that especially didn't make sense. In my opinion-and this is just my opinion-animated films have disposable theme songs and music. It's the same crap, and trust me-having four kids I've heard so many animated movie songs that you could just replace one with another with another with another.
Yup, it's a jaded view, I know.

One could argue that in TRON they aren't a physical "costume" but rather a computer manipulation. I mean, let's face it: look at the "Making of" video... Jeff Bridges is walking around in a t-shirt and khaki pants.
That's now. Although the costumes are still real for a lot of TL....there are some great making of shots in some of the mags I've seen.
However, back in '81, someone had to take the spandex/lycra and put circuit etching material all over them. I can't even imagine how long that took.

I was equally disappointed that Scott Pilgrim didn't get the nomination for VFX either. And to add insult to injury, one of the nominees makes zero sense for a VFX nomination; sorry Clint Eastwood, I like you, but this does not have more impressive visual effects than TRON: Legacy or Scott Pilgrim
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/hereafter/
Also, on the score front, all of the nominees have great scores, but nothing as original or memorable as Daft Punks score for TRON: Legacy.
I am disappoint.

Seems like Tron is destined to be that movie that the Oscars just don't appreciate at all.
