I know I'm on a bit of a Seth Godin kick of late, but the guy does understand the changes in modern marketing. People have become very good at ignoring TV ad blitzes, especially those that become repetitive. (On a side note, have you noticed how different each teaser/trailer for Tron Legacy has been so far?) As Godin likes to say, for a product to be remarkable, people have to make [i]remarks[/i] about it - they have to talk about it. I've told between a dozen and a score of people about the film and the ARG so far, and I'm not one of those people with a hundred casual friends I tell about everything. Imagine what a really socially talkative person in this game would do for distribution. So indeed, this game isn't to sell us Tron Legacy tickets in the end. Probably half of us would have bought them already. Its point is to get us to drive tenfold or more people into the theater, to buy merchandise, and become aware of their brand in general. What more we ourselves spend on Tron is just a bonus.
