I've wished for a San Diego ARGFest for a long time, but my concerns have always been the rather poor public transportation (although not a big deal if we keep it downtown) and cost.
One of the ideas has always been to piggy-back ARGFest on top of, or right before, the San Diego Comic-Con. A trial of this idea was run a couple years ago, except ARGFest was in Portland and then a group of hearty souls made the trip to San Diego for Comic-Con the next weekend. Before considering repeating this, I would want to hear from those folks to see what their thoughts are on the matter - especially concerning hotel cost and transportation issues.
The pro side to this is: Having ARGFest one weekend, or even the M-W/Th prior to Comic-Con so that folks are in town for Comic-Con - this past year's Con greatly expanded it's presence away from the Convention Center into all but taking over the city. Several "viral campaigns" played out away from the Con - TRON (Flynn's Arcade), Dexter (the "kill room" plus all the SCVNGR points), the Rocket Puppeteers (Super 8, I believe)... etc. and it seems this is going to be even more prevalent next year.
So, just a couple thoughts to weigh interest...

I'll be making a play for KC again, because none of you have ever been here, so you don't really know what's best for you.

ARGFest2011-Seattle
I'm going to have to recommend Seattle WA for next year's ARGFest. It's the scifi cap., home of Microsoft, FILLED with hardcore and casual gamers, and the center for some of the most progressive museums incorporating community voices and participation (who would most assuredly benifit from the conference)
Also, it would help me validate and work on my thesis idea.

Yeah, funny thing about that members-only restriction. It's not supposed to be there! We'll get that fixed up as soon as possible.

Since I'm soon going to be a Canadian, I gotta throw my vote in for Vancouver. I don't have any idea what it's like or what there is to do there, but hey, worth a shot.

Oh I know. I'm just planning something big, for Argfest '11 and want as much time as possible to get everything set up/writhen/created and all.
Oh, and I want it to hurry up and get here. Someone get me a MaiTai.

TC - you are kidding right, lol.... planning isn't even being done yet. We prob won't know the city or hotel until well after the new year. People have big forms to fill out first for city bids, and then scouting may need to be done, and blah blah blah blahbiddy blah more stuff.

I'd love to see argfest 2011 in Austin too, but if we do it around SxSW, it will be a nightmare logistically.
Whatever city hosts it, I hope to know sooner than later. The game we're writing depends on it. Oh, and hotel info too
Pretty please?
Anyone up for DC? Could be cool with all the monuments/museums for side-trips. Plus, I'm ready to do all the footwork needed since I'm local.

The theme parks are definitely expensive. I guess it's not really worth it if you don't live here. There's plenty to do in Florida without going to a theme park, though. Orlando is tourist heaven.

i can almost assure you, argfest will NOT have events at a park it costs that much a day to visit.
I might as well add that prices are going up for the parks (at least Disney's, anyway).
I should keep quiet... After all, I *do* want it in Florida!

There are plenty of tiki bars around Orlando. We also have theme parks and lots of other fun awesomeness. Wouldn't it be great to have a treasure hunt at Universal Studios?
