SDCC Tron Stuff
I have a friend, a nearly life long friend and "Comic Book Guy" who sells every year at SDCC. I work his local Comic shows for free so when I CAN afford to go to SDCC, I get a free Dealers Badge which is the Golden Key to getting exclusives. Sadly, can't afford it this year and fund my two October trips (Halloween Haunt at Knotts and Dallas for a Glass collectors Con) I've already asked them to get me one of the action figures if possible, and God love him, he's never NOT been able to score me the Limited I ask him to hunt down for me. (Skeleanimals, Ralph McQuarry Boba Fett, etc.)
I wish I was going because I would try to get stuff for you guys. If I hear of any other reputable sources for stuff at decent, or non markup prices, I will let you know.

I've been able to pick up multiples of "limited edition" items before, as long as they're
FOR SALE
. The freebies, though, are almost always one per person, first come first serve.
That said, I'm sure you can't walk away with a hundred of them. But I've never had a problem picking up two or three of a limited-to-5000 Comic-Con exclusive figure. If you're willing to give them money for it, they're usually happy to take it
No question about the lines though... you've got to decide ahead of time what you absolutely MUST HAVE, and go get it before you do anything else. I'll be jumping on these first thing

Wow... people are already preselling these exclusives for a crap load of cash!! Some on ebay are as high as 50 for the lightcycle and 85 for the figure! This is my first year not going in the last 5 so if anyone here is going and can grab me any for a reasonable price pm me to let me know, cuz there is no way I am 10x the price for a five dollar lightcycle.

If I'm not mistaken, theres a guy that was part of the SF security distraction team with me that actually designed this. his signature should be part of the design on stitches head.

I hate that this year vacation time is so packed that I won't be able to make SDCC again.
Especially with Tron being so close to release. argh!
btw, afaik with limited items like this, they're sold one per person, and the lines can get HUGE! In other words, if you want one, better make sure you're there early early and never leave until you're done.
No one takes risks with things like this, so even if it's NOT that popular, there are still very early lineups.
One thing I learned last year, you'll never get the
whole
experience at SDCC. The only way to be satisfied is to set your eyes on a couple of things, and focus entirely on them. Then if there's extra time, explore a bit
So if you want something, prioritize your goals and go overboard in your effort to get it. hehe

Oh, I just meant exclusives in general (not just TRON-related). Some places, like Sideshow Collectibles offer pre-orders on their site for pickups at the Con. If there will be anything about pre-orders for TRON exclusives, I'm sure we'll hear about it on here
Which actually reminds of this (sorry if this is old news, might've been posted elsewhere on the forum):

I'll definitely try and pick-up as many TRON toys as I can. Anything I have left over, I'll post it on here and it'll be a first-come, first-serve sort of a deal, and we'll figure out shipping and whatnot.
Like emeraldbeacon said, it's pretty much madness trying to pick-up exclusives at the con, the lines are just ridiculous. If it weren't for Preview Nights, I would probably have no chance of getting exclusives unless they were pre-ordered.
But yeah, just giving people a heads up and hopefully I'll have some extra toys to share on this forum!

There are two entities you do NOT want to mess with... Disney, and Lucasfilm. They protect their copyrights with a
vengeance
...
Also, thinking about the $5 LightCycle... it's probably something akin to a Hot Wheels car, most likely in exclusive colors (primarily black) that will be released in a couple of different versions come this winter (say, black & blue for Sam, black & yellow for Clu, perhaps a silver & blue for Tron).

I will be attending SDCC, barring disaster, and could feasibly try to get some of these (or other exclusives) for interested parties...
I haven't yet decided what my 'swag policy' is going to be yet, so that might have to wait a little... but likely, it'll be along the lines of:
1. After deciding what you want, you pay a reasonable estimate for all costs for the item(s) prior to SDCC.
Most items will have listed prices... but sometimes, those prices change. Often, they're nudged up or down to account for CA sales tax, so the final number ends up as something more manageable.
2. I attempt to obtain what you've asked for.
If unable, you get a full refund for any/all item(s) I can't get. Sometimes, lines for exclusives can be ludicrously long (don't EVEN get me started on Mattel), and at times, there's a raffle for the option to buy limited items (only about 1/3 or 1/4 of people will get the opportunity to buy on that day... it's one of the only fair ways to give everyone a shot at them). There are frequently quantity limits, too... one person can't buy more than, say, four of a given piece. If I have five interested parties, I can try to get a fellow line-stander to get one for me, but no promises. Regardless, I will make all reasonable efforts to get what you want, but can't make any promises.
3. Shipping will be calculated after SDCC.
I pack everything up nice and safe, then send you the final bill for shipping, plus or minus any added charges or refunds due to unique convention variables. After recieving shipping payment, everything gets sent off! I'm willing to send to just about anywhere - including overseas - but I might need help in terms of filling out any unusual paperwork or in addressing the package properly, of course.

TRON BOOTH?
I guess I knew where I'll be hanging out in my real world Flynn duds! (Almost done sewing the jacket.)
Also of note, that Tron disc someone posted a pic of is NOT a repackaged product. New mold, new replica.

Since all these photos are being posted of Disney Tron tie-ins, I have a vacation photo from DisneyWorld from ~7 years ago when they were celebrating Mickey's 75th anniversary as memory serves. So they had 75 differently dressed statues of Mickey. One of them was in a Tron outfit. Naturally, I took several pics. Anyone interested in my posting?
