Yeah man, haven't worked on themes much since the android 2.0 days. Really would have liked to see these themes finished, but it was enough work back then just to keep what I had completed updated for newer versions of android. Should be much simpler now that android has evolved a bit more. Well here's all the files I could find on my hard drive in regards to these themes. Feel free to use them if you wish to try and continue from where I left off. Just give credit if you use any of it. Also, if there's enough interest I can look into possibly picking up this project again in my spare time.

There are two different ways at going about changing the theme for your android phone.
The first and easiest would be to download a home replacement app (there are many, just google "android home replacement") that allows using custom themes. You can either download these themes or make them yourself if you have the knowledge.
The second way consists of rooting your phone. This basically is like hacking the phone so you have an administrator account. Once this is done you can install a plethora of different Roms (operating systems) on your phone. Many of these come themed in their own way or simply keep the original style. My preference is www.cyanogenmod.com. Once you have a custom rom running on your phone it is only a matter of either downloading themes made by other users, or making your own using programs like metamorph. However, you must have a bit of technical knowledge to make your own.
Also, I haven't heard anything about anyone successfully rooting the Acclaim, but the place to watch is probably the XDA Developers web site (forum.xda-developers.com). The Acclaim, being an exclusive to US Cellular and what many would consider an entry level device, this phone may not get quick attention from those who build the rooted ROMs.
So for now your only option lies with using the home replacements that allow custom themes. But it will be a good idea to keep an eye out for advancements made with your device on the xda developers web site.

I know I'm late to the party on these particular themes, but I just got my first phone with Android technology. I just got a Samsung Acclaim and I'm still figuring out several things about it. One thing I'd like to do is change the theme and I'm starting at square one on how to do it. I understand the take a pic and set it as a background and all that. Setting these themes up are beyond my comprehension of the Droid system right now. Thanks for any help you guys can give me about this.

ahh I'm guessing you are reffering to the Hero style launcher like the one viewed here:
I've got a G1, and though it is possible for me to get a launcher in that style I don't like it. But I am willing to look into theming a hero launcher for those who wish to have it. However, that will probably be after the main theme is completed.
yes, that will be a big help much.

I don't mean to make things harder, but to expand on an idea fro the Encom theme by somehow using the icons from the remote desktop page under the start menu (calender, media player, email, etc.) as well as the ones on the right side of the desktop itself.
I was totally thinking along this line as well. I have the stock image files for all those icons already set aside. As well as the image of the actual calendar and other programs that I want to try and incorporate. However, since icons and the such are "extra toppings on the cake" They will be put on back-burner until the main parts of the theme are finished.
in the upcoming week I want to look towards fixing a small issue with the color of fonts in the Legacy status bar, and then start work on getting the Encom theme caught up. I hope to have a usable launcher and status bar for Encom by next week.

I have just posted updated metamorph files in the main post. This update merges the status bar, launcher, and wallpapers into one morph.
You have the option to choose between stock launcher, and advanced launcher. If advanced launcher is not found it will be automatically installed for you.
There are still some minor tweaks I want to do for these files to clean things up, but I consider this release to be the first step towards a usable theme. Give her a spin, and let me know what you think.
I would like to, but I can't due to me not having an Android phone at the moment, but I will real soon though.

thanks bruce. I'll work on this when time is next available. Got some school work I pushed back in order to make a little more progress with the theme. Off to bed then catchup on my statistics class. Enjoy the new update everyone.

No problem ifmnetzwerk, and if you need help with rooting your phone (should you decide to) I can help you through it. I'd recommend doing it. Lets you run non market apps, and you have the option to install different roms.
Take a look around the following forum for lots of information on the android os, apps, and custom roms.

Sure, I'll keep in touch when I'll get my device....

Question. even though i know the trial theme works, but how do you install it?
Since I am creating themes for the actual android system it requires that first and foremost your device has been "rooted".
Once this is complete you can install a handy little program called Metamorph free from the market. This allows you to use theme files created for it to change individual or entire themes.
Place my zip files onto your SD card in the AndroidThemes folder. Launch Metamorph and apply the theme.
Once the themes are complete I will be supplying these themes in flashable zip files as well. If you run into any trouble with all of this I will be happy to do my best to help. However, I am fairly new to creating themes for android (first attempt) so I am in the learning process as well.
More information on creating, modifying, or installing themes on android devices can be found
here
.
If it becomes requested I can do a side project of using these themes I am designing as a basis to create skins for some of the more popular home replacement applications out there. These applications do not require a "rooted" phone, and will be much easier for the casual user. However, "you get what you pay for" in other words its a trade off in quality for ease of install. These apps will not be as perfectly themed as the main project since a lot of things will not work the same.
Great! Thanks for the tip ahead of time. Even though I don't have any Android devices yet; I'll already have this in mind though. Once I get my phone in the mail sometime next week and getting my settings done the way I wanted to, then I'll install said applications and such until the full release of the themes. Thanks once again!
