And pegasissy- you bet AGAINST a 12.5 point spread?? Granted, I really did expect New England to win, but by no more than 6-10 points. Sorry for your loss.
Ok, here was my reasoning:
1. I figured that Bill Belichick would be 100% prepared. This was not a reality in the end. He gave the team the final walkthrough off. Come on, what coach does this? Its the superbowl, your undefeated, they can go one more day. Now when I say Bill Belichick, I mean his staff. Dont get me wrong, the defense was well prepared, but what happened to that short pass attack of the patriots that lead to big plays? Did they lose the play book?
2. Eli Manning is not a good QB. Period. I dont care what you say, Ive seen him fail too many times. I figured he would throw 3 INTs, and that would be it.
3. The Giants defense isnt that good. OK, here is where I was wrong. Im a Cowboys fan, and I didnt believe that Osi, Tuck, Michael, and CO were that good. They dominated, and that lead to a win.
4. The Patriots o-line is solid. Apperantly they are not that good, they got pushed around like rookies and the offense did not alter there startegy to acomadate their struggles.
5. The Patriots would get pressure on Eli. Simple, they didnt.
6. The Patriots have a good redzone defense, which held true.
7. The Patriots, or the seasoned vets as my dad calls them, would come out emotionally charged, and the giants would fold under pressure. Exact oppisite happened, and Brady was nervous and apperantly Eli's too stupid to get nervous.
You know when I knew the game was over and the Giants had won?
When Brady missed Moss wide open on there second to last possesion in the end zone. I told my buddies it was over, and even when they scored, i still told them we had lost. Brady looked so scared during that time out when it was 3rd or 4th and goal, i just knew.
What are you gonna do, eh? That just means a few weeks of OT, and missing some parties; you win some you lose some.

Bottom line- the Pats got out played. Despite being an Indy fan, I will not take away from the fact that Tom Brady is a definite Hall of Fame QB who will undoubtedly win another Superbowl if not multiple more. He's amazing. Regardless- Justin Tuck, Michael Strahan, and Osi Umenyiora just plain wanted to sack Brady more than the O-line wanted to defend him. Randy Moss has his first good game of the post season and Wes Welker caught 12 passes and more than did his job. Maroney underperformed. Eli played like a champ- his interception was more Steve Smith's fault than his own. Tyree caught a handful that added up, Toomer caught at least a couple of important ones, Plaxico caught the one that mattered. Steve Smith played like a rookie who understood what it all meant. And lastly- Ahman Bradshaw came off the bench looking like a starter. The Giants won this game- the Pats didn't lose it. Pure and simple.
And pegasissy- you bet AGAINST a 12.5 point spread?? Granted, I really did expect New England to win, but by no more than 6-10 points. Sorry for your loss.

see ya next season
pats were so amazing to watch this season. sadly they did not win that last game... but they will go down in football history for their long winning streak.
so yay for being the most winning!
and side note: i feel for you giants fans. i mean, yeah, you won the last game of the season.. and people might call your team the champions or whatever.. defense blah blah blah offense blah blah blah - but at the end of the day the pats have Tom Mr. Handsome forever Brady - teehee
see ya next season!

I'm simply disgusted with the way the Patriots played that game. Say what you will, but the O line played like it was there first time off the bench. Yuk.
Giants deserve the win.
I was at both the divisional playoff and AFC championship game, and to have the pats choke like that is the ULTIMATE let down. I hope Giselle dumps Tom before the end of the week.

And, the Patriots already beat the Giants in the regular season, they could have done it again. Like I said, the Giant's Defense simply took advantage of the Pat's sorry display of an O-line this game (like a few teams have on other occasions this season [ie Ravens, Eagles, etc])
Wrong. The Pat's O-Line, while very good, is not as quick as the Giants D-Line. The Giants did a great job of disguising all-out blitzes, and dropped Linebackers into coverage often. It wasn’t "Bad O-Line Play" it was a D-Line that is better than your O-Line. All of the teams that sniffed the Pats this year (Giants, Ravens, and Eagles) generate a lot of pressure on ALL of the quarterbacks they face. The Giants LED THE LEAGUE IN SACKS. Please stop making excuses, and just admit that the Giants were better than the Pats.

I'm not whining.
If the Giants had lost, you all would have said either "The Pats cheated" or "They were just too good of a team, what do you expect?" (or even "Yay, the Pats won, now the Dolphins can get off their high-horse")
Please don't make assumptions. I applauded the Pats after they out-slung the G-Men in week 17, and could care less about "Spygate". They had an incredible regular season, and were very good all year. The Giants were just better yesterday. If you want to undermine the Giants win, I could just as easily undermine your perfect regular season by pointing out that you played in the worst division in football this season and racked up wins against the listless Dolphins, Jets, and mediocre Bills.

(btw, it was Brady's ankle not sholder, which still didnt bother him [minus a few long throws which it probably threw off his accuracy])
Incorrect. I know Brady's ankle was hurt, but as I said, it wasn't on the injury report. If you look back, you'll notice he’s listed as "Probable" with a shoulder injury, as he has been every game since he started with the Patriots.

and, dont get me wrong, i told my girlfriend after the last game of the regular season "If any team would beat the pats, it would be the Giants" and I had hoped they wouldnt play them in the superbowl.... oh well...
Well it seems as though you were right, and it was an INCREDIBLE game - something of an anomaly in SuperBowls as of late. Just please stop with the "We beat ourselves" stuff, it makes you sound like a sore loser. Don’t worry though, man – There’s always next year.

Do you forget the entire regular season?
When was the last time the Giants came close to doing as well as the patriots did this season... wait... when was the last time ANY team did as well as the Patriots did this season? Was it in your lifetime? Why did the Patriots break so many records?
Because they are that good.
And, the Patriots already beat the Giants in the regular season, they could have done it again. Like I said, the Giant's Defense simply took advantage of the Pat's sorry display of an O-line this game (like a few teams have on other occasions this season [ie Ravens, Eagles, etc])

lol Some Thing.
Seriously though. If the Patriots were that good why didn't they win?
^^
Edit: I was just kidding. Sarcasm.
My brother laughed when I said I was cheering for the Giants. It was great to call him when there was that stupid one second left.
He didn't answer.

There's always at least one "TeamX didnt win the game, my team lost the game" post. The Giant's D-Line outplayed the Pats O-Line. The Pats had NO ONE on the injury report, save Tom Brady with his "sore shoulder" that's been on there for close to his entire career. The Giants secondary played better than expected, and held Moss tight (save a trip in the endzone by Webster, but Moss would've beat him regardless). Eli played mistake-free, and engineered a great 2-minute drive to end the game. The Giants D held the leagues HIGHEST SCORING OFFENSE TO 14 POINTS. The Pats didnt lose the game, they were beat by the
G-MEN!

I'm sorry, but I was completely dissapointed with the Patriot's performance...
They could have done better than that... Their O-line looked weak... never has Brady been sacked so many times...
the Giants defense just took advantage...
The Patriots would have beat the Giants, had both teams been at full Capacity...
Manning looked weak (and got sacked plenty of times himself) (and who the hell gets a penalty from delay of game anymore?)
...the truth is, the Giants didnt earn that Trophy, they lucked out...
I figure this, whether they won or loss, the Patriots were the only team to go 18-0 to win their conference (nvm previously beating the Giants in the regular season) and that puts them on a higher platform than the Giants will ever be at (considering the last time the Giants won a Superbowl was 17 years ago)
The only reason why the Giants got that last touchdown is pure luck that Manning didnt get sacked... somehow that skinny bastard slipped away...
it was a Patriot's game to that point, and everyone will say that.
we will see next season, and will all watch the best team in the league do it again, but next time they wont let any mediocre team like the Giants luck out in the final minute...
(ps, I find it hilarious that nearly 20% of Giants fans were rooting for the Pats just because they hate the 72 dolphins... shows loyalty, huh?)

I'm hung-over, have no voice, and my girlfriend has 2 or 3 lumps on her head (dont jump in the arms of your 6'-4" boyfriend if the part of the bar you're in has a low ceiling) but today is one of the best days of my life.
