Actually, the food list has a lot of possible answers, as long as you just input one food item.
I have gone back into this thread and noted the [SOLVED] on the puzzles I put in here. Since these were created by Dave, I thought seeing what codes were used would be helpful for those of us trying to Catch the Wish. And a little push for some help on these last few toughies.
Here they are:

just did the food one

Any luck with this? Would like some insight into the letter in the middle puzzle too.

I found a mention that Mike Monello, known here for Art of the Heist, was involved in creating this game which is also a promotion for a Dreamworks Animation movie called "over the hedge." Also there are prizes being offered.
It sounds like fun - but challenging as shown in Kona's posts.
edit to add - checking the rankings shows some familiar names. Vraal, grumpyboy, and kona are all in the top five solvers.

We've gotten stuck a few puzzles and I've uploaded bmps to my
flickr account
. I'm going to try to post a couple in here to see if anyone has some good ideas.
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ignore the letters (darn you Dave, another red herring). As I thought, the hedge or tree in the background is the key. But it's just that, hedge or tree. Remember a code that only has 2 possible inputs? Yup, that's it. Devilishly simple. I had to explain "red herring" to enfants terrible at the Hedge Games site.

As of May 30th this is still not solved.

Turns out the is a glitch in the OTH matrix. They answer they want for the input is Windsor Palace (totally wrong). Bah!!!!

Maybe you need to find a way to type that with the circumflex accent over the a: Château de Brissac or whatever, copy-paste?

The building behind that possum has been identified
http://www.chateau-brissac.fr/2006/english.htm
But there appears to be another bug in the game and no variation of the name seems to work.
I have tried: Chateau Brissac, Brissac Chateau, Le Chateau de Brissac, Chateau de Brissac, Chateau-Brissac, Brissac Castle, Loire Valley. Ugh!
Thanks for all the help so far. We still have a few tough puzzles to crack.

I really thought I had this one. I know my math skills are a bit rusty, but it seemed like just simple algebra.
Quote:
Verne and his cousin Merne are 26 miles apart. Verne starts walking towards Merne at the whopping speed of 3 miles per day. Due to the exhaustion of traveling so fast, Verne can only maintain this rate for four days. After that his speed is cut by 1/3 till he can rest. If Merne only starts walking after Verne catches up to him and they both walk in the same direction (to their other cousin Berne's house) how far will each turtle be from Verne's starting point after fifteen days?
It took me 5 times before I figured it out. Jeesh.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3 mpd x 4 days = 12. Continue to the 26 mile marker takes 7 more days (at 2 mpd). Now Merne starts walking, but he is going at 3 mpd while Verne is still stuck at 2 mpd. For the next 4 days Verne goes 4 x 2 mpd = 8 more miles, and Merne (who started out at the 26 mile marker, can travel 4 x 3 mpd = 12. So in 15 days Verne has traveled 12+14+8 = 34, and Merne has gone 26 + 12 = 38 miles. Phew!

What is the message?
"Time to panic"?
P.S. Dave contacted me to clarify that the interface at the site was not within his sphere of influence, which I knew, I guess (based on the intro to this topic). His role was as a content provider for others to use in building the site. So, Dave... Apologies for the way I put your name to my issues with the site.

Gladys,
You may think that I am paranoid but I'm pretty convinced that a turtle has been reading my email. I've decided to start encoding the messages we send back and forth. The code I used here is made from my name, if you know what I mean and can figure out how that adds up.
Code:
XEFSFFTPJMHMIEFCUJEOFNIWPXTSVTTB
Dwayne.
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
DWAYNE was used as the key to create the vigenere result.

This one is called "Put it Together". I'm thinking that two lines get joined?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yup, change the letters to their corresponding numbers, put the first two lines together, change the resulting number back to a letter. The spaces = 0.

0011001001000100010001111
Too long for binary, but sure looks like it. Should yield 4 numbers.

Here's another number code:
Quote:
Here is the password code, in "animal math" 437442301507
(we think "animal code" and lack of 8 and 9 means octal).
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yup, octal. Just find a Base8 to Base10 converter and then the answer was just the number. We kept trying to conver that thing to letters but we didn't need to.

What is the message hidden inside this series of numbers?
Code:
13 254 67 886 962 342 1357
9 323 1 4 935 7 1 3147
684 222 431 17 359
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The clue was the title of the puzzle, "Oddly Even". Hint: Try naming the numbers Odd or Even. Then recall a
code
that is made up of only 2 possible inputs.
--------------------
I have a string of letters:
Quote:
ICETHPAHRSEHRTGEERSTEDSUH
that should spell out a message that is something Ozzie Opossum hopes to earn with this performance (probably has something to do with his daughter, Heather, who is always embarressed by her dad's overacting).
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It was an anagram.

"Start at the tee" using a keyboard - that sounds promising. I'll try it.
Edited to add: YUP!! Thanks enaxor!

Meanwhile, here is one that is suppose to be hard.
It seems each group of four characters = 1 letter.
Code:
Verne, Hammy, Ozzie, Stella
Ozzie, Hammy, Stella, Verne
Ozzie, Verne, Stella, Hammy
Hammy, Stella, Ozzie, Verne
Verne, Hammy, Ozzie, Stella

Stella, Hammy, Ozzie, Verne
Hammy, Ozzie, Stella, Verne
Stella, Verne, Ozzie, Hammy
Ozzie, Hammy, Stella, Verne
Hammy, Verne, Ozzie, Stella
What is the message?
[SOLVED] - posted further down the thread.
-----------------------------
RJ, I have an important message for you, but I sent it in code for no good reason. Yes I know it would have been far simpler just to send it… but they are watching… WATCHING, DO YOU HEAR!!!! I see eyes everywhere, even right in front of me! Of course I’m looking in a mirror but that’s beside the point. Can you decode my message before I have a complete nervous breakdown?
With fondness and affection,
P. Phoxx
Code:
1-5 2-6 1-3 2-6 1-7 3-7 2-1 3-6 2-2 1-2 2-1 3-6 1-5
1-5 2-6 1-3 1-2 2-6 1-9 2-9 1-3 2-4 1-9 1-4 1-3 2-2 1-5
This one looks like a grid code, 3 x 9, but that didn't seem to work for me.
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yes, it was a grid of 3 x 9, but you use the keyboard again. Nice!

I know I should recognize this, but I don't. Do any of you?

This is the "Letter in the Center" puzzle.
[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Initial spec to add or subtract from the letter in the center were correct. That is the rule. But there is no pattern to it. Include the letter itself and see which combination of add or subtract works to create words that make sense, even if the sentence structure doesn't.
